Joan M.Tucci;84;of Monessen;died Friday;Aug.14;1998;in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born on June 12;1914;in Boston;Mass.;a daughter of the late Peter and Nellie Cichowski Kurowski. Mrs.Tucci had been a resident of Monessen most of her adult life. She was Catholic by faith. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Dr.Frank Tucci;a sister;Stephanie Kurowski;and two brothers;Walter and Siegmond Kurowski. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law;Virginia and Ralph Dolfi of Belle Vernon;and a sister;Sophie Popov of Cranberry;N.J. Stewart U.Thorpe;76;of Voyager Estates;West Newton (Rostraver Township);died Tuesday;May 12;1998;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Township.  He was born Sept.8;1921;in Fayette City;a son of the late John and Margaret Usher Thorpe.  He was a member of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church;Belle Vernon.  He resided in Rostraver Township for the past 45 years.  He retired in 1982 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;having worked in the hot mill.  He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II.  Survivors include his wife of 46 years;Alois Knight Thorpe;one son and daughter-in-law;Richard and Jolie Thorpe of Fredericksburg;Va.;five brothers;John and Gene Thorpe of Perryopolis;Robert Thorpe of Anaheim;Calif.;Mickey Lee Thorpe of West Virginia;and Ronald Thorpe;three sisters;Pearl McCoy of York;Charlotte Santo of Roscoe;and Donna Lessmans of Charleroi;and one grandson;Robert Thorpe.  In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a son;Stewart Russell Thorpe;in February 1959;and two sisters;Hanna Jones and Edith Mowery.  Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Richard C.Klein;pastor of the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church;officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in cahrge of the arrangements.

daughter of the late Frank and
Josephine Catalano DiPiazza.
Mrs. Taravella was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord
Parish; Monessen; and had
lived in Arizona for the last 22
months.
In addition to her parents;
she was preceded in death by
her husband; Salvatore Taravella; in 1993; one son; Anthony Taravella; in 1995; five
brothers; Pete; Frank; Joseph;
Ralph and Michael DiPiazza;
and one sister; Josephine Kluz.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law; Frank J. and Norma Taravella of Belle Vernon and Joseph L. and Karen
Taravella of Carroll Township;
three daughters; Mrs. Thomas
(Marie) Blatnik of Fallowfield
Township; Mrs. David (Joann)
Cathers of Hanover; Md.; and
Mrs. John (Josi) Zdilla of Apache Junction; Ariz ; with whom
she made her home; two
brothers; Dominic DiPiazza of
North Charleroi and Samuel
DiPiazza of Monessen; two sisters; Lena Rotolo of Monessen
and Eleanor Davis of Belle Vernon; 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home
