Peter W.VanFleet Sr.of North Huntingdon and formerly of Dawson R.D.died Wednesday;Feb.19;1986;in Forbes Regional Health Center;Monroeville. He was 75. Born Jan.17;1911;in Belle Vernon;he was a son of the late Jacob and Anna DenDecker VanFleet. Prior to his retirement;he was employed as a coal miner. James Vance of 816 Speer St.;Belle Vernon;died at 5.30 a m.
Wednesday; May 8;1985;at his
home. He was 96.
Born in Scottdale; March 19;1889;
he was a son of the late Smith Fuller
and Mary Hengsteller Vance.
In addition to his parents; he was
preceded in death by a daughter;
Betty Vance Bunardzya on Aug 13;
1979;two brothers;John Vance and
Clark Vance; and a sister; Florence
Kelly.
Mr Vance was a Belle Vernon
community resident since 1910. He
owned Vance Hardware in North
Belle Vernon; which he operated for
52 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a member and former
trustee of the First Presbyterian
Church of Belle Vernon and a board
member and president of the Belle
Vernon Cemetery Association for
over 50 years.
Mr Vance was a life member of
the North Belle Vernon Volunteer
Fire Department and was a Belle
Vernon school director for over 20
years.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years;
Mrs Bernadean Laird Vance; one
son;James Sherman Russell of
Belle Vernon; five grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
