James Vance of 816 Speer St.;Belle Vernon;died at 5.30 a m.
Wednesday; May 8;1985;at his
home. He was 96.
Born in Scottdale; March 19;1889;
he was a son of the late Smith Fuller
and Mary Hengsteller Vance.
In addition to his parents; he was
preceded in death by a daughter;
Betty Vance Bunardzya on Aug 13;
1979;two brothers;John Vance and
Clark Vance; and a sister; Florence
Kelly.
Mr Vance was a Belle Vernon
community resident since 1910. He
owned Vance Hardware in North
Belle Vernon; which he operated for
52 years until his retirement in 1975.
He was a member and former
trustee of the First Presbyterian
Church of Belle Vernon and a board
member and president of the Belle
Vernon Cemetery Association for
over 50 years.
Mr Vance was a life member of
the North Belle Vernon Volunteer
Fire Department and was a Belle
Vernon school director for over 20
years.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years;
Mrs Bernadean Laird Vance; one
son;James Sherman Russell of
Belle Vernon; five grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev.Charles D.LaPlaca;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon officiating. Andrew Vargo;Sr.;81;of Cook St.Extension;Fayette City R.D.1 died Friday;April 5;1985;at 11:25 p.m. in Brownsville General Hospital. Mr.Vargo was born in Edna No.1;Westmoreland County;on May 29;1903;a son of the late Andrew and Julia Gesko Vargo. He was a retired coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 5. He was also a member of the American Slovanic Citizens Club of Fayette City. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Anna Vargo;in 1972. Mrs.Venneri was born Jan 4;1912 in Monesssen;a daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Arabia Coccari. A former resident of Monessen;she was a member of St.Brunos Church;Greensburg.
