Mrs. Vance was born Dec. 31;
1912; in Brownsville; the
daughter of the late Andrew G.
and Edith Stemberg Laird.
She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church of
Belle Vernon and a former
member of the Tuesday Evening
Civic Club who lived most of
her adult life in Belle Vernon.
Along with her husband; the
late James H. Vance; she was
the owner of the former Vance
Hardware Company of Belle
Vernon.
She is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law; J. Sherman
and Selma Russell of Belle Vernon;
a brother; retired Col. Paul
G. Laird of Trieste; Italy; a sister;
Mrs. Maynard (Vivian) Jesick
of Belle Vernon; three
grandchildren; Neill Russell of
Queenstown; Md.; David Russell
of Fallowfield Township
and Gail Tobasco of Jefferson
Hills; four great-grandchildren
and one g r e a t – g r e a t –
grandchild.
Besides her parents and her
husband; who died May 8;1985;
she was preceded in death by a
sister; Ruth A. Ferguson; who
died July 17; 1976.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where Elders and Deacons will meet on Tuesday at 7:30 for a service. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.Charles K.Sowden officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Micco; Fla.; died Thursday;
Jan. 28; 1999; in Sebastian
River Medical Center; Roseland;
Fla.; following a lengthy
illness.
Born Oct. 22; 1910; in Belle
Vernon; he had moved to Micco
in 1982 from Brandyvine. Md.
Mr. Vernaccini had been
owner operator of the Aquarium
Restaurant and Bar in
Monessen.
He later opened other restaurants;
including the Wigwam
Restaurant in Brandywine;
the Charlotte Hall Restaurant and Bar in Charles
County; Md.; the French Quarter
and O’Henry’s in Washington;
D.C.
He was a 1934 graduate of
Duquesne University in
Pittsburgh.
Mr. Vernaccini was a life
member of 63 years of B.P.O.
Elks Lodge 773 Monessen. He
was also a member of Moose
Lodge 1767 in Sebastian; Han Yang Masonic Lodge of Seoul;Korea. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite;Washington;D.C. He was also a member of Almas Temple of the Shrine;Washington;D.C. Mr.Vernaccini was a veteran of World War II;having served in the U.S.Coast Guard Merchant Marines on board the USS Henry Austin. He was on the staff of the U.S.State Department in Pakistan and Korea and was personal assistant to the Charirman of Foreign Affairs. He was assistant service officer on the largest inland ship;SS Aquarama;Chicago;Ill. Survivors include his wife of 60 years;Dorothy Vernaccini;onedaughter;Georgetta Bravo Vernaccini Coombs of Bowie;Md.;and two grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday;Feb.2.at 11a.m.in St.Sebastian Catholic Church;Sebastian;Fla. Inurnment will be at a later date in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Penn Hospital.
He was born Aug. 1; 1933; in
Banning; Pa.; a son of the late
Peter W. and Delphine C.
Pavesi Van Fleet.
He was a member of St. John
the Baptist Roman Catholic
Church; the Holy Name Society
and president of St. Vincent DePaul Society; all of Perryopolis.
He was president of Fox Grocery Credit Union; a past member of the Charleroi Elks; and a
past member of the Laurel
Swingers Square Dance Club.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of
the Korean Conflict. He and his
wife; Anna L. Ricotta Van Fleet;
would have celebrated 45 years
of marriage on Oct. 24; 1998.
Survivors; in addition; to his
wife; include three sons and
daughters-in-law; Kevin P. and
Eileen Van Fleet of Greensburg;
Jeffrey A. and Sandra Van Fleet
of Dayton; Ohio; and Daniel J.
and Margaret S. Van Fleet of
Dayton; Ohio; four grandchildren; Bradley K.; Ryan L.;
Catherine L.; and Rachel C. Van
Fleet; one brother and sister-in-law; Robert C. and Yvonne Van
Fleet of Scottdale.
In addition to his parents; he
was preceded in death by one
sister; Sheila D. Mencer.

Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. in the Blair-Lowther Funeral Home Inc.; 106 E. Independence St.; Perryopolis. A Prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home;followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church;Perryopolis;with the Rev.Thomas W.Rogers as celebrant. Mary Vincent;96;of Hoon Street;Monongahela;died Sunday;April 20;1997;at Mon Valley Hospital. She was born Sept.27;1900;in Czechoslovakia;a daughter of the late Michael Vesely. Mrs.Vincent was a homemaker. She was Catholic by faith. She was a member of St.Anthony Roman Catholic Church;Monongahela. Surviving are two daughters;Frances Fusco of Monongahela and Margaret Pilarcik of Elizabeth;eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Peter Vincent;who died July 20;1957;a son;Peter D.Vincent;a brother;Michael Vesely and two sisters;Anna Hald and Cecelia Vesely.
