Mrs.Sophia Hela;nee Dorchincez;of Cook street extension;Fayette City;died Tuesday morning;July 10;1956;at 5:30 o’clock in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mrs.Hela was born June 6;1894 in former Austria-Hungary. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Charleroi. Surviving are her husband;George Hela;seven sons;George and Steve;of Fayette City;Mike;of Stockdale;John and Charles;both of Perryopolis;R.D.;Pete;of Vanderbilt and Andrew;at home;a daughter;Mrs.John (Ann) Kushar;of Fayette City;12 grandchildren;one great-grandchild and a brother;John;of Collinsville;Ill. Friends are being received at the late home;where funeral services will be held Friday;July 13;at 1 p.m. Rev.Gregory Soroka will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Melford S.Hommel;80;of 411 Wood street;Belle Vernon;died in the Charleroi-Monessen hospital;Saturday;July 7;1956; at 2:15 a.m. Mr.Hommel was born November 10;1875;and had resided in Belle Vernon since 1908. He was a member of the St.Sebastian Church and the Holy Name Society. He is survived by one brother;Elson of Brownsville; a niece;Mrs.Eva Hawkins of Wenatchee;Washington;and a nephew;Harry Burns of Davenport;Iowa. Friends will be recieved at the late home. Requiem High Mass will be sung in St.Sebastian Church;Tuesday;July 10;1956;at 9:30 a.m.;by Rev.Henry Hanse. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon cemetery. Slipping on wet grass while shooting rabbits in his garden;Frank Hajdu;75-year-old truck farmer of Fairhope;was accidentlly killed by the charge from a shotgun Monday morning;June 11;1956. Struck full in the chest by the blast from the ancient gun;Hajdu died unstantly at 7:30 a.m. His wife;blinded by cataracts;was standing about 10 feet from Hajdu when the accident occurred. She gave the alarm but Hajdu was dead when aid reached him. The blast tore completely through the left side of the chest. Hadju;as was his usual morning chore;went into his large truck garden about 7 a.m. Rabbits and squirrels had done considerable damage and he had the gun to get rid of the pests. The weapon;State Police said;was a very old type single barrel shotgun;and safety equipment was not the best. Hadju started to walk over a grassy section;the gun in hand;and fell forward. The weapon discharged sending full effects of the charge into his chest. The Hajdu residence is located near Marion school and the Hadjus have been well known residents for a number of years. Mr.Hajdu sold garden truck and vegetables in Fayette City;Belle Vernon and Charleroi. Rabbit damage has been particularly heavy and each morning;the owner had been going into the growing area with the same gun to shoot them. Survivors are his wife;Susan;one son;Joseph of Cresson;three daughters;Mrs.Rose Fayekas of Duquesne;Mrs.Elizabeth Farkos of Logan Ferry;Pa.;Mrs.Ethel Steussi;Boston;Masschusetts;one sister;Mrs.Mary Lovatch of Fayette City;R.D.1;ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the George M.Mccrory and Son Funeral Home;Fayette City;where services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 14;1956. Officiating will be the Rev.Victor Bodnar;pastor of the Hungarian Presbyterian Church;Brownsville. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Thomas A.Hewitt;aged 71 years;of 122 Creston Drive;Dravosburg;died Monday morning;June 4;1956 at his late home. A retired employe of the Industrial Relations Department of the U.S.Steel Co.in Homestead;the deceased was a member of the First Christian Church of McKeesport. Mike Holet;63;of 1114 Graham street;Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;May 15;at his late home. Mr.Holet was a member of the Russian Beneficial Society of Belle Vernon. Survivors include his wife;Mrs.Mary Holet;three daughters;Mrs.Ann Fazio of Belle Vernon;Mrs.Helen Krivda of Belle Vernon R.D.3 and Mrs.Evelyn Krivda;of Gillespie;five sons;John and Andrew;both of Monessen;Pete of Pricedale;Michael of Belle Vernon R.D.3 and Charles of Belle Vernon. Twenty-one grandchildren also survive.
