An electrician’s helper in the plant;he had worked for W-P Steel for 19 years. He was born Aug.17;1936;in Arnold City;a son of Hazel Hill of Monessen and the late George Hill Sr. Mr.Hill was a member of Union Baptist Church;Monessen;and F&AM Twin City Lodge 67;Pricedale. In addition to his father;he was preceded in death by a sister;Alice Reddick;in February of 1972. Jay T.Hixenbaugh;1st.Sgt.retired;U.S.Army;of Charleroi R.D.1;Fallowfield Twp.was dead on arrival at Brownsville General Hospital on Saturday Oct.18;1975;at 5:30 p.m.of an apparent heart attack. Mr.Hixenbaugh;59;was stricken while attending the homecoming football game at California State College;where his daughter is a student. A veteran of 30 years service in the U.S.armed forces;he was born in Belle Vernon on Feb.11;1916;son of the late Church and Essie Hixenbaugh. He enlisted in the U.S.Navy in 1935 and served in that branch until 1945;seeing action in South Pacific and Asian theaters of operation. After World War II;he worked in the wire department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.and later enlisted n the U.S.Army;attaining the rank of first sergeant when he retired in 1965. While in the Army;he served in the Cavalry;as a recruiting sergeant;with the criminal intelligence department;military police and as an Infantryman. In the latter part of his service career;he was a combat medical and motion picture photographer. He served during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Mr.Hixenbaugh was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Good Conduct;American Theater;Asiatic Pacific Theater;World War II Victory;Korean Service;National Defense Service and United Nations Service medals. Three of his books published were Army Medical Research Laboratory ; Simple Equipment for Large Field of Micrography and An Aid to Accuracy in Roentgenography. He was employed as a truck driver for Sentle Trucking Corp.at the time of his death. A Methodist by faith;he belonged to the Stuttgart Germany Lodge 822;F&AM;American Legion Post 22;Charleroi;Charleroi Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Belle Vernon Moose. He is survived by his widow;Betty Mae Huweart Hixenbaugh;one daughter;Pamela;at home:two sons;Kenneth Folle of California;Pa.;and Richard Folle;one stepson;Richard Thomas Fisher of Elizabethtown;one sister;Mrs.John (Mildred) Dankanich of Roscoe;and seven grandchildren. Jeff Hewitt;76;3-E Millvue Acres;Clairton;a former resident of Monessen;died Wednesday;Oct.1;1975;in McKeesport Hospital. Mr.Hewitt was born May 16;1899;in Marian;Ala.;son of the late Jeff and Sarah Akers Hewitt. He had been a resident of Clairton for the past 10 years. Mr.Hewitt was retired form the former Donora Works of U.S.Steel Corp.and was a member of the Wayman A.M.E.Church of Monessen where he had served as steward and trustee of the church. Chester P.Hotz;55;of 14 Keystone Drive;Monessen;died suddenly Sunday evening;July 13;1975;while on his way home from work. Mr.Hotz was employed as a supervisor for the Isaly Dairy Co. He was born April 15;1920;in Duquesne;and had reided in Monessen for the past 25 years. Mr.Hotz formerly managed the Charleroi Isaly store for many years. He served overseas in the U.S.Army during World War II. He was active for many years in the Monessen Midget Football League and the Bronco League. Mr.Hotz was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Charleroi.
