James W.Houseman;63;former principal at Marion Elementary School in the Belle Vernon Area School District;died at 4:50 a.m. today in St.Francis Hospital;Pittsburgh. He resided at 1322 Fayette Ave;Belle Vernon. Born in Rostraver Twp.on April 8;1914;he was a son of the late Clyde and Tillie Beeler Houseman. Mr.Houseman was a past president of the Washington Twp.Lions Club. He was a member and elder and former Sunday School teacher at Marion Presbyterian Church and also belonged to the Belle Vernon American Legion and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. He was graduated from California State College and received his master’s degree from Waynesburg College. Mr.Houseman retired from his position as principal at Marion School on July 28;1975. He was a first lieutenant in the U.S.Air Force during World War II and had completed 25 missions while serving in England. Surviving are his widow;Betty Seman Houseman;and two brothers;Clyde Houseman of Belle Vernon and Warren Houseman of Buena Park;Calif. Mr.Horrell was born in Belle Vernon on June 5;1932;son of the late James W.and Charlotte Forsythe Horrell. He had resided in Fayette City the past 14 years;having formerly been a resident of Belle Vernon. He was a former employee of Equibank;having worked at the Belle Vernon;California;Monongahela and Pittsburgh branches. He was employed by the Funding Systems Leasing Corp.of Pittsburgh the past three years and was recently named vice president of administration with the firm. Mr.Horrell served with the U.S.Navy during the Korean Conflict and belonged to the Lynnwood Lutheran Church;F&AM Lodge 643 of Belle Vernon;Scottich Rite of Uniontown and Consistory of Pittsburgh. Robert R.Hawker;85;of Perryopolis;R.D.1;died Saturday;June 25;1977;at 1:30 p.m. at his home. He was born in Dunbar on April 19;1892;son of the late James P.and Emma C.Hanan Hawker. He was a member of Little Redstone United Presbyterian Church at Fayette City R.D.1 and the United Mineworkers Local 6548. Mr.Hawker was a retired stationary engineer of the United States Steel Corp. Joseph Leroy Heath of 457 Clarendon Ave.;Monessen;a member of the Monessen Police Department;died at 1:10 p.m.Tuesday;March 22;1977;in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital;Inc. Mr.Heath;48;had been in the hospital since he was stricken while on duty last Tueaday (March 8). He became ill shortly after reporting for work as he was walking near Monessen Public Library. He was taken to the hospital by Monessen Ambulance Service and was placed in the intensive care unit. Mr.Heath was born June 14;1928 in East Liverpool;Ohio;a son of the late Sarah and Charles Heath. He was a 1946 graduate of Monessen High School. He was an outstanding athlete in high school;playing three years with the varsity football and basketball teams. He was noted as an outstanding defensive performer in basketball. Mr.Heath was also active as a coach for several years with the Monessen Midget Football League. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army;serving three years. Formerly employed by the Monessen Street Department;Mr.Heath had been a police officer for the last six years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police of the Mon Valley;Joseph H.Ford American Legion Post 691 of Monessen and I.B.P.O.E.of W.of Monessen.
