Bertha Marie Jones;72;of Los Angeles;Calif.;formerly of Perryopolis died Thursday;June 24;1971;in View Park Hospital;Los Angeles. She was preceded in death by her husband;Charles;in September;1955. Surviving are two sons;Charles of Star Junction and Allan of Monongahela;three grandchildren;four great-grandchildren;and two sisters;Mrs.Virginia Kubula of Los Angeles;Calif.and Mrs.Ruby Lachnit of Torrance;Calif. Friends will be received at the Blair Funeral Home;Perryopolis;after 7 p.m.Saturday. A service will be held at the funeral home Monday;June 28;at 2 p.m.with the Rev.James Ellenberger officiating. John Jurenek;88;of 31 Franklin Drive;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;April 28;1971;at 6:30 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Born Feb.12;1883;in Czechoslovakia;the deceased was the son of the late Andrew and Susan Jurenek. Mr.Jurenek was a retired employee of the galvanizing department of the Page Division;American Chain & Cable Co.;Monessen. Surviving are a daughter;Mrs.Michael (Mary Ann) Cunko of Belle Vernon;six grandchildren. Friends are being received at the John L.Kravets Funeral Home;Monessen. A Requiem Mass will be sung Saturday morning at Holy Name R.C.Church;Monessen;with the Rev.Matthew Yanosik in charge. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

died Thursday night;April 8;1971; in Columbia
Hospital in Wilkinsburg.
He had suffered a heart attack
last Sunday; while conducting a
baptismal service in the
McMasters United Methodist
Church at Turtle Creek; where
he had been the minister since
1967. Rev. Mr. Johnston; was pastor
of the Jollytown Methodist
Circuit from 1934 to 1936; the
Carmichaels Methodist Church
from 1936 to 1942; and the
Street Methodist
Waynesburg; from
Washington
Church;in
1942 to 1951.
He then served pastorates in
Donora; Kittanning; and Duquesne before being named
pastor of the Turtle Creek
Church.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Sunday in the McMasters Church with burial in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

An eight-year-old girl lost her life in a fire that leveled her frame home at Pricedale last Saturday morning;aUGUST 23;1962. The victim;Elizabeth Ann Jackson;was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m. Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen D.Yoney of Monessen attributed her death to suffocation and third degree burns. The blaze broke out at approximately at 1 a.m.Saturday at the home of Mrs. Beatrice Summers;the girl’s grandmother. The woman-who had reportedly fallen asleep while watching television in a first floor room-was alerted about the fire by neighbors. North Belle Vernon firemen were the first on the scene at House 52 on Ross St.in Pricedale. When firemen arrived;the two-story;four-room house was engulfed in flames. Attempts to reach the child were unsuccessful. An adjoining house was saved from damage. The fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty or overheated furnace. After the flames had subsided;firemen found the victim;s body under her bed. Five fire departments responded to the alarm. Men and equipment were on the scene from North Belle Vernon;Belle Vernon;Washington Twp.(Fairhope);Rostraver Central and Webster. Firemen were forced to obtain water from a fire hydrant a quarter mile from the blaze. The Jackson girl was staying at her grandmother’s home while her mother was in New York. Born Aug.23;1962;at Long Island;N.Y.;she is survived by her mother;Mrs.Irma Lea Jackson;her grandmother and a great-grandmother;Mrs.Lucretia Zales of Dayton;Ohio. Friends will be received after 2 p.m.Sunday in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral home;Main St.;Fayette City;and until Tuesday;March 16;1971; at 1:30 p.m.;the hour of service. Burial will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Services were held Tuesday;March 16;1971;with burial in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
