Mrs.Smyth who was born at Scottdale on June 16;1893;was a member of St.Leonard’s Roman Catholic Church of Monessen. Preceding her in death were her husband;Hugh;in 1950;and a son;Lt.Hugh B.Smyth;a serviceman who was killed during action in 1945. Surviving are one son;Vincent of Bogota;N.J.;four daughters;Mrs.Thomas (Nell) Petrus of Donora;Margaret Smyth at home.Mrs.Joseph (Patricia) Guarascio of Detroit;Mich;and Mrs.William (Rita) Miller of Pittsburgh;fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jean Louise Sphar;two weeks old;daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Robert Sphar of Lynnwood;Washington township;died Thursday March 19;1925;at 9 o’clock in the Charleroi-Monessen hospital. She was born March 5;1925. Funeral service took place Friday afternoon;March 20;1925;followed by interment in the Howe Cemetery. ( She was removed to Belle Vernon Cemetery on June 29;1965) Mr.Sphar is employed at the Tri-Cities Water Co.;of this city. This was the first child and her loss is keenly felt by the bereaved parents.

Robert G.Sphar;78;of 1512 Marion Ave.;Monessen;manager of the Monessen office of the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi until his retirement in 1953;died Friday;June 2;1961;at 7 p.m.in the Waddington Rest Home;Gillespie;Fayette City R.D. He had been in declining health for some time. Mr.Sphar had been with the Authority for 45 years. He was assistant superintendent of the former Tri-Cities Water Co.;Monessen. He had served as a director and treasurer of First Federal Savings and Loan Assn.;Monessen;for many years;until May 1960. He was a former school director in Speers Borough. A member of the First Methodist Church;Charleroi;he held life memberships in the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 615;Charleroi;Coudersport Consistery;Coudersport and Monessen Rotary Club. Surviving are his widow;Nelle Conrad Sphar and a brother;George of Long Branch.
