Edward L.(Ozzie) Smith;48; of 14 Woodcrest Drive;Monessen;died Friday;Jan.10;1969;at 8:55 a.m.in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Monessen;the son of the late William and Jean (Ferguson) Smith. Mr.Smith was employed in the blooming mill of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Monessen plant. He was a veteran of World War II. An Air Force gunner;he was a prisoner of war for 27 months after his B-17 Fortress was shot down in a mission over Germany. He was a member of the former United Presbyterian Church of Monessen;and the B.P.O. Elks 773;and American Legion Post 28 of Monessen. Preceding him in death was his son Gary C.Booth;December;1963. Survivors include his widow;Freida (Fresh) Smith;two daughters;Mrs.Kenneth (Kay) Betler of Charleoi and Mrs.Mary Booth of Monessen;three grandchildren;two sisters;Mrs.Andrew (Jean) Dyky of Monessen and Mrs.Keith (Ruth) Moeller of Charleroi;R.D.;two brothers;Ray and Robert of Monessen. Harry Nello Sylvester;73;of 1 Graham Ave.;Belle Vernon;died suddenly today at 9:30 a.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr.Sylverter was a former stationary engineer for the old American Sheet and Tin Co.;Monessen;until 1937. He owned and operated a grocerty store in Belle Vernon 35 years;retiring in 1955. He was director of Belle Vernon Cemetery Association and was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 643;Belle Vernon;being a past master of the lodge and;at the time of his death;secretary. He was a past worthy high priest of Royal Arch Chapter;Monessen;where he was their present treasurer. My.Sylvester instructed at the Masonic School of Instruction in Charleroi. He was born in Bartolini;Italy;July 7;1895.
