Douglas Tonini;20;14 Myers Ave.;Monessen;drowned Thursday;Aug.15;1963 in the Youghiogheny Reservior near Confluence but his nine-year-old nephew;Danny Tonini of Belle Vernon;was rescued. The victim was carrying his nephew on his shoulders in the crowded Somerfield Beach area of the reservior on U.S.Route 40 east when he fell and both were submerged. The nephew was pulled safely to shore by other swimmers who heard his cries for help. Police said the boy told his rescuers that his uncle was carring him on his shoulders when he apparently fell about 3:30 p.m. Mr.Tonini was recovered about 30 minutes later. Tonini and his nephew had been on a fishing trip in the Confluence area since Tuesday. Tonini had worked from May 28 to June 28 in the wire mill department at the Monessen plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co. A 1961 graduate of Monessen High School;he was a student at the Allegheny Technical School;Pittsburgh. Surviving are his parents;Marco and Mary Rossi Tonini;two sisters;Mrs.Philip Gerald (Lucy Marie) Ronco;a Jehovah Witness missionary in the state of Massachusetts;and Mrs. Anthony (Florence) DeLuca of Pittsburgh;two brothers;Nicholas of Belle Vernon;and Roger of Monessen;three nieces and two nephews. Friends will be received at the R.A.Billick Funeral Home in Monessen until Monday;Aug.19 at 10 a.m.when Minister John Huha;Carmichaels Jehovah Witnesses;will be in charge of services. Mrs.Suzann Turik;75;of Fayette City;died Monday;May 7;1962;at 1:45 a.m.in Monongahela Memorial Hosptial.  She was born in Czechoslovakia July 10;1886;and was a member of the Holy Trinity R.O.Church;Charleroi.  Surviving are three sons;Charles of Charleroi;and Ncholas and John;both of Fayette City;three daughters;Mrs.Matthew (Suzanna) Kozar of Brownsville;Mrs.Michael (Mary) Wineck of Charleroi R.D.and Mrs.John (Anna) Badini of Monongahela R.D.;five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
