Belle Vernon soldier;Staff Sgt.George P.Amoroso of 515 Washington Ave.;Belle Vernon;member of the Army Air Force;died of wounds received in an air battle while on a bombing mission over Germany January 11;1944. He was first reported missing as of January 11;but later is was reported he had died of his injuries the same day. The Staff Sergeant was 19 years of age. He enlisted in November;1942;and had been overseas but a short time when he was sent on the fatal mission. He graduated from Belle Vernon High School with the class of 1942 and was later employed by the American Steel and Wire Company of Donora. He is survived by his parents;Gregory & Filomena Amoroso;seven brothers and four sisters. He has two brothers in service;Dominick;somewhere in England;and Attilio in California. Another brother is to enter service within a few days. High Mass was said Sunday;April 23;1944;at 8 o’clock for the war victim. Toner Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;is in charge of arrangements.

John A.Adams of 208 Market street;Belle vernon;died Sunday;January 2;1949 at 4:15 p.m. after a brief illness. He was born September 26;1872;the son of the late Captain and Mrs.William Y.Adams of Lockhaven. He was a former custodian of the Belle Vernon schools. He is survived by his wife;Mrs.Flora Adams;one daughter;Mrs.Rachel Bendie of Belle Vernon;two sons;Robert of Bentleyville and George Adams of Belle Vernon;one sister;Mrs.King of South Williamsport;Pa.;eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home. Services will be held there Wednesday;January 5;1949;at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev.Harry Rine;pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Monessen. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon cemetery. Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.
