John M.Bevan;Sr.;50;of 465 Conrad avenue;North Charleroi;was electrocuted Friday afternoon;September 21;1945;by 25;000 volts of electricity while working in the West Penn Power Company Substation at Monessen. Mr.Bevan;an employee of the company for 24 years;was painting a high pole at the station;when he was electrocuted at 3:07 p.m. He hung on to the pole until rescued by men working nearby. His clothing caught fire and his body was burned. He died at 3:28 o’clock enroute to the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr.Bevan was a veteran of World War I and had lived in Charleroi 25 years;coming here from Frostburg;Md. He was a member of the Charleroi Methodist Church and of the American Citizens Club of North Charleroi. He was born in Frostburg;Md.;Sept.29;1895;a son of the late Daniel and Harriet Richards Bevan. He leaves his wife;Phillis Murray;a son;Ensign John M.Bevan;Jr.;U.S.Merchant Marines;in the Pacific;and the following sons and daughters;Mrs.Raymond Jones;Marilyn;Priscilla;Doris;Marvin and Jane Gray Bevan;all at home;four brothers;Reese;Thomas and Daniel of Frostburg;Md.;and Stanley of Pittsburgh and three sisters;Mrs.George Reese;Bridgeport;Conn.;and Mrs.Evan Evans and Mrs.George Hartig;both of Akron;Ohio. Friends will be received at the Lawrence B.Frye Funeral Home. Military services will be held there Monday;September 24;1945;at 2:30 p.m.;with Rev.Joseph C.Brown in charge. Mrs.Alice Boris;aged 26 years;died Wednesday;September 12;1945 at 6:15 p.m.at the Cresson State hospital;following a lingering illness. The family resided in Belle Vernon;R.D. Surviving is her husband;Michael;a son;Gregory Michael;her parents;Mr.and Mrs.Fred Kozak;of Belle Vernon;two brothers;William Kozak;in the Navy;Samuel Kozak;at home. A sister;Mrs.Helen Bulger;of Belle Vernon;R.D.;also survives. Another sister;Mrs.Mary Ann Swader;died Septermber 8;at Cresson;her funeral being held yesterday. Mrs.Anna Beresik;age 59 years;of 840 Graham street;Belle Vernon;died August 28;1945;at 2:30 a.m. She is survived by two sons;George at home and Pfc.Andrew Beresik in Czechoslovakia;one brother;George Vankulich of Monessen;one sister;Mrs.Mary Smerigan of West Aliquippa;and two grandchildren. Roy N.Baker;a resident of Monessen for a number of years;died Monday;August;27;1945;at at 3 a.m.at the family home;556 Donner avenue. He had been employed as a pipe fitter at the Pittsburgh Steel company. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Florence Baker;and a daughter;Madeline. Clarence Burrows;26;320 Roley street;Belle Vernon;a discharged veteran of World War II;died at the scene of a bus-automobile collision on Rt.51;five miles south of Elizabeth on Tuesday;July 3;1945. He is survived by his parents;Mr.and Mrs.James Burrows;and two brothers;Pfc.Edward in North Carolina;and Pvt.Howard at Lahvre;France. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the St.Sebastian Church in Belle Vernon.
