David Cernicky;aged 57 years;of 392 Fell street;Belle Vernon;died Thursday;January 21;1943;in the Allegheny General Hospital;Pittsburgh;at 2:15 p.m.;following a short illness. Surviving are his wife;Elizabeth;and a daughter;Mrs.Jarmilla Chubanik;of Belle Vernon;two sons;David;Jr.of Belle Vernon;and Aviation Cadet J.L.Cernicky;of San Antonio;Texas. Two brothers;Joseph;of New Kensington and August;of Belle Vernon;also survive;along with two sisters;Mrs.Cecelia Tomayko;of Charleroi;and Mrs.Veronica Resovsky;of Detroit. Friends are being received at the late home;392 Fell street;Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be held Monday;January 25;1943;from the St.Sebastian Church;with Father Dennis Boyle officiating. Toppling from the roof of a Lynnwood home where he was assisting in putting on a new section of roofing;Malcolm C.Clegg;aged eighteen years;of 22 Main Street;Belle Vernon;was fatally injured. He was hurt Tuesday afternoon about 1 o’clock and died in the Charleroi-Monessen hospital Thursday morning;August 13;1942;at 8:40 o’clock of internal hurts. Clegg’s back;neck and left arm took the brunt of the fall;it was indicated;and he remained in a critical state until death intervened. Malcolm Clegg was one of Belle Vernon’s best known young men. He had been assisting William Hoyes;Jr.;in placing a new roof on the Hoyes residence at Lynnwood and slipped when he attempted to step from a sealfold to the roof;falling 17 feet. Malcolm is survived by his father;Hobart Clegg;Sr.;of Belle Vernon;three brothers;Hobart Clegg Jr.;of Charleroi;Pvt.Hazelop A.Clegg;Jr.;of Camp Claiborne;La.;Carl at home and one sister Mildred;at home. Their mother is deceased. The remains will rest at the Melenyzer Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;until Sunday at 2 p.m.when services will be held;with Rev.James Rainey;of the Belle Vernon Christian Church in charge.
