Saverio D. Sam Zema; 73; of Main Street; Belle Vernon; died Sunday; May 19; 2002; in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Saverio and Mary Bitonti Zema; Mr. Zema was born in Belle Vernon on Aug. 13; 1928. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the AARP. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; Mr. Zema was retired from the wire department of the former Page Wire and Steel Company of Monessen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife; Erma T. Amicucci Zema; with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 16; 2002; one daughter and son-in-law; Beverly and Kenneth Shetterly of Donora; three sons and one daughter-in-law; Gary and Leslie Zema of New York City; Sam Zema of Indiana; Pa.; and David Zema of New York City; one sister; Sarah Bednarczyk of Fayette City; one half sister; Mary Zema Solomon of West Miff1in; four grandchildren; Lauren Zema of New York City; and Kara; Andrea and Christa Shetterly; all of Donora; and a good friend; Toni Cortese of Monessen. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Albert; in 1932; and Albert W. Zema in 1993; one half brother; Joseph Cimino in 1936; and one half sister; Rose Cimino Beketic in 1986. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; 700 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon; on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday; May 22; at 10:30 a.m.; followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. John Cindric; V.F.; as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m.; led by members of St. Sebastian Parish.
