Mrs.Lydia A.Hoffman of Fairhope died at her home;Friday;October 8;1948;at 12:15 a.m.;after a lingering illness. She was born September 22;1877;and was a member of the Marion Presbyterian Church. She is surived by two daughters;Mrs.Mary Stopford of Fairhope;Mrs.Vera Schmidt of Belle Vernon;three sons;Russell of Belle Vernon;Clarence of Belle Vernon;R.D.2;George of Belle Vernon;three brothers;William Guiler of Buffalo;New York;Jacob Guiler of Roscoe;John Guiler of Fairhope;two sisters;Mrs.Edward Breakwell of Fairhope and Mrs.Clare Abbott of Fayette City. Sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home. Mr.and Mrs.John Holder;Market street;Belle Vernon;received word Wednesday Nov.8;1944;from the War Department that their son;Pvt.Warren M.Holder;was killed in action in France;October 6;1944. He had previously been reported missing in a telegram received by his parents on Oct.28. Private Holder was the possessor of a Presidential citation for bravery. He was graduated from the Belle Vernon High School and has been overseas since August;1973. Surviving besides his parents are two sisters;Mrs.Margaret Christopher;and Dolores;at home;and two brothers;Sgt.Richard in France;and Jack at home. His body will arrive in Charleroi Wednesday;Sept.8;1948;at 6:45 p.m.and will be taken immediately to the Toner Funeral Home. Services will be held there Friday;September 10;1948;at 2:30 p.m.;in charge of Rev.Herman F.Roney. American Legion Post 659 will have charge of military rites. He was born in Bridgeport;Pa.;January 3;1884;the son of George and Mary Blackstone Hellein. He had been a resident of Bentleyville for thirty years;and worked as a driller in the gas fields.
