Belle Vernon; Thursday morning; December 26;1940; at 2:30 o’clock; after an
illness of two weeks.
He is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Modrak; Miss Anne
Motchkoski; and Mrs. John Shuma;
all of Belle Vernon; a son; John;
also of Belle Vernon; and six
grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the
late residence in Lynn wood; R. D.
No. 2; until Sunday afternoon at 2
o’clock where short services will
be conducted; followed by services
at St. John the Divine Church in
Monessen. Rev. Theodore Geeza
will officiate. Burial will be in the
Belle Vernon Cemetery.

John William Manown;aged 73;first postmaster and a former school director at Monessen;died in his home at 215 Sixth street;Monongahela;Monday night;July 22;1940 at 10:20 o’clock. He was born in Westmoreland county Sept.7;1867;but he had resided in Monongahela for 15 years. He previously had lived in Forward Township and Monessen. Mr.Manown;a retired farmer and banker;was a member of Monessen Lodge of Master Masons No.638 and Syria Shrine;Pittsburgh Consistory. The deceased is survived by his wife Mrs.Myrtle Manown;one daughter;Vella;at home;one son;Voyle F.Manown of Norristown;Pa.;two brothers;James of Monessen and Edward of Warren;O.;two sisters;Mrs.Margaret Carnes and Mrs.Pearl Kisor;both of Monessen. Two grandchildren also survive. Services will be held at the Bebout and Yohe Funeral Home on Thursday;July 25;1940;at 2 p.m.;in charge of the Rev.Ross M.Haverfield assisted by the Rev.Carl K.Boyer. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Mrs.Elsie Martin;widow of William J.Martin;died Thursday;June 27;1940;at 12:10 p.m.at the Mt.Pleasant hospital;at the age of 75 years. She had resided in Monessen for 18 years. Surviving is a sister;Mrs.Fannie Bulger;of Fairhope;and two bothers;Grant Brown;of Brownsville;and Charles J.Brown;of Lock Four. The body has been brought to the Harper Funeral Home on Schoonmaker avenue where friends will be received. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home;Sunday afternoon June 30;1940;at 2 o’clock with Rev.John Fosnight;pastor of the Baptist Church;officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.

Richard Mutich;of Fairhope;died Tuesday;June 18;1940;at 8 p.m. in the Mercy hospital;Pittsburgh after a short illness. He was aged 51 years. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Surviving is one daughter;Mildred and fve sons;Charles;Mickey;Nicholas;Bernard and Lewis;all at home. Funeral services will be held from the late home;Friday;June 21;1940;at 2 p.m.with interment to follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
