Remains of County soldiers who lost their lives in the battle for St.Lo;France;are being returned for burial. Among them are those of Pvt.Everett S.Phillips of Canonsburg;R.D.1;who made the supreme sacrifice in that decisive battle on July 11;1944. The body of Pvt.Phillips will arrive tonight at Canonsburg and be removed to the McNary Funeral Home. A military funeral will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with American Legion Post 253 according him full military honors. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A lifelong resident of the Canonsburg district;Pvt.Phillips was born July 29;1906;at Canonsburg;R.D.1;a son of Scott Phillips. Before entering service on Oct.30;1943;he was employed by the Universal Cyclops Corp.;at Bridgeville. He was graduated from Cecil Township High School and was a member of Venice United Presbyterian Church. Besides his father;he leaves his wife;Grace Hamilton Phillips;of Belle Vernon;a brother;D.J.Phillips;of Canonsburg;R.D.1;and six sisters;Mrs.Ethel Martorann;of Canonsburg;Mrs.Dorothy Bernardine;of Cannsburg;R.D.1;Mrs.Laura Wallace;of McDonald;R.D.3;Mrs.Amanda McClure;of Cannonsburg;Mrs.Nellie Jane Barni;of Broughton;and Norma Jean Phillips;of McDonald;R.D.3. Interment will be Sunday afternoon September 19;1948;in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Pvt.Andy Pasztorcsak;34;of 937 Graham street;North Belle Vernon;was killed in action in the European area on July 14;1943. He was born November 2;1908. He is survived by his father;Michael Pasztorcsak and the following brother and sisters;Michel;Jr.;of Monessen;Mrs.Anna Karlick of Monessen;Mrs.Mary Hollis of Belle Vernon;Mrs.William Hussar of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Sue Cyrnek of Charleroi. Friends are being received at the Toner Funeral Home in Belle Vernon until Thursday;Aug.5 at 9 a.m.;when brief services will be held followed by additional rites at the St.Mary’s Greek Catholic Church in Monessen.
