William Ray Smith (Smitty);aged 66 years;1109 Graham avenue;died suddenly Thursday;July 26;1951;at 4:45 p.m.at his late residence. The deceased was a lifelong resident of Monessen. He was employed as a charging machine operator in the Open Hearth Department of the Pittsburgh Steel Co.until his retirement one year ago. He was an honorary life member of the Fire Department. He is survived by his wife;Mrs.Jean Ferguson Smith;and the following children;Ray and Edward;at home;Mrs.Andrew (Jane) Dyky of Monessen;Robert;with the U.S.Navy;Lakehurst;N.J.;and Ruth;at home. One brother;Edward L.Smith of Monessen also survives. Friends will be received at the Rhome Funeral Home after 7 p.m.Friday evening until Monday;July 30 when funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.with Rev.Chase Stafford of the United Presbyterian Church officiating. She is survived by two sons;William and Lawrence Spiegelberg;Monessen;three daughters;Mrs.James Ecoff;Sheriden;Pa.;Mrs.Lee Prosser;Swissvale and Mrs.Philip Strimel;Monessen;two sisters;Mrs.Charles Snyder;Mrs.Frank Gordan;Pittsburgh;and a brother;Frank Jenneman;Pittsburgh. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
