He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon;the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department;Westmoreland County Firemen’s Association;Fire Chief’s Association of Westmoreland County;Mohawk’s Association and West Newton American Legion Post 401. Formerly of Monessen;he had resided in Belle Vernon for 43 years. He served with the U.S.Navy during WW II. Mrs.Shawley retired after 25 years with the Guttman Oil Co.
