Daniel Zeke Evangelist;77;of Belle Vernon(Rostraver Township);died Thursday;June 28;2001;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Aug.31;1923;in Monessen;a son of the late Albert and Grace (Marto) Evangelist. He was a 1943 graduate of Monessen High School;where he played football from 1939 to 1943. From 1943 to 1949;he played and coached for the Monessen Ravens semi-pro foorball team. In 1968;he was inducted into the Monessen Hall of Fame for the time he played and coached;from 1940 to 1949. He was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II;having served in the South Pacific;in Saipan and Okinawa. He was a member of the Covenant Christian Church in Belle Vernon. He retired with 40 years of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;having worked in the blooming mill. Survivors include his wife of 50 years;Betty Ann (Usher) Evangelist;one son;Daniel Evangelist Jr.and wife;Yvette;of Monessen;three daughters and sons-in-law;Danette and Hugh Shearer of Rostraver Township;Julie Lynn and Brian Roberts of Belle Vernon;and Toni Jo and Brian Bennett of Belle Vernon;one sister-in-law;Theresa Evangelist of Carrick;four grandchildren;Ryan Colditz;Aubree Nicole Evangelist;Chelsea L.Roberts;and Casey Lynn Roberts;and three nieces. Rinaldo (Reno) Sichi;90;formerly of North Belle Vernon;died Saturday;June 16;2001;at the home of his daughter in Commerce;Ga. A son of the late Adamo and Angelina Ceccarelli Sichi;he was born Jan.13;1911;in Italy. He was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon;the Charleroi Eagles and a life member of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department. Mt.Sichi had lived most of his adult life in Belle Vernon prior to moving to Georgia in 1995. He retired in 1976 after 20 years with the North Belle Vernon Street Department. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law;Janet and William Mullen of Commerce;Ga.;a son and daughter-in-law;Carl and Joanne Sichi of Mebane;N.C.;seven grandchildren;and six great-grandchildren.
