Frederick Caleb Zollars;aged 51 years of 523 Broad Avenue;Belle Vernon;died in the Cresson Sanitarium;Cresson;Pa.; at 10 p.m.on Saturday;June 14;1941 after a lingering illness. Mr.Zollars was well known in the Belle Vernon district. He was a brick-layer by trade. He leaves his wife;Mrs.Sadie Zollars;his mother Mrs.Rachel Zollars of Lynnwood;one son;Harry;at home;three daughters;Mrs.Ralph Mahoney of Pittsburgh;Lois and Mrs.Arthur Bull at home and three brothers;James;Caleb and Frank of Belle Vernon. The remains are at the Toner Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon;June 18;at 2:30 o’clock in charge of rev.Edwin G.Sloan;pastor of the Presbyterian church of Belle Vernon. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.

Joseph Zegzdryn;aged 26 years;proprietor of the Pig and Whistle restaurant and beer garden;First street and McKean avenue;died at his home on Thursday afternoon April 10;1941;at 4 o’clock following a prolonged illness. The young man was well known locally although his home was in Fairhope. His illness has extended over a long period of time and his decline was steady. His father Kazimer Zegzdryn and one sister Catherine;at home;survive. His mother is dead. Friends are being received at the Toner Funeral home in Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday;April 13;in charge of Rev.John Pudlo of Monessen. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold Toner is the funeral director.

Mildred M.Zeh;a life long resident of Belle Vernon;died at 7:30 Tuesday morning;Aug.2;1938;at her home;231 Main street;Belle Vernon. She was in her 64th year. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law;Mr.and Mrs.Howard Zeh and three aunts;Mrs.Bessie Woodward and Mrs.Jennie Dickie of Monongahela and Mrs.Margaret Weister;of Carnegie. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 from the home;with Rev.Edwin G.Sloan;pastor of the Presbyterian church;officiating. Interment will be made Friday morning at 10 o’clock in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Harry H. Zollars;aged 46 years;well known resident of the Belle Vernon district;died in the Greensburg hospital;Tuesday afternoon;February 8;1938;at 5:30 o’clock;after a month’s illness. He resided with his mother;Mrs.Bemas Zollars;and brothers;James and Frank at Lynnwood. His wife;Mrs.Marie Zollars;died about five years ago. Surviving are two daughters;Mrs.May Reynolds of Belle Vernon;and Mrs.Dolores Haley of Newell;his mother;Mrs.Bemas Zollars;four brothers;Fred Zollars of Belle Vernon;Caleb Zollars of North Charleroi;and James and Frank Zollars at home and two grandchildren.

An attack of poliomylitis;or as it is more familiarly known;infantile paralysis;proved fatal to Odessa Elaine Zollars;eight year old daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Fred Zollars;of Belle Vernon;R.D.1;who succumbed in the Children’s Hospital;Pittsburgh;last night September 15;1937 at 5:30 o’clock. Harold R.Toner;Belle Vernon mortician;was called at once and was permitted to arrange the body for burial at the hospital. The casket was immediately sealed and arrangements made for a private burial. Short funeral services were held at the Belle Vernon Cemetery this morning;Thursday;September 16;1937;in charge of Rev.Edwin G.Sloan;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;who read the service. Funeral was strictly private;no one but the immeduiate family being present. The young girl was taken to the hospital seven days ago;stricken with the dread disease. She was the first patient to receive artificial respiration in Pittsburgh’s second iron lung and was given an even chance for recovery. But death claimed her shortly after pneumonia set in. Elaine who passed her eighth birthday on August 24th last was in the second grade of the LaGrange school in Rostraver township. Besides her parents;she is survived by three sisters;Hilda;Vera and Lois;and one brother;Harry. The county health officer of Westmoreland County;who resides at Mt.Pleasant;has been notified of the death and will make an immediate investigation. It is reported that three additional cases have been recieved at the Children’s Hospital;each of the children being between the ages of seven and nine.

She had been bedfast for the past four and one-half years. Surviving are her husband;Harry Zollars;two daughters;Mrs.Harry Reynolds and Dolores;and one grandson. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon;January 12;1935;at 2 o’clock with the Rev.Howard Curtis;pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;in charge. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
