Ferdinand F. Fred Santoro; 79; of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; Jan. 9; 2003; at 6 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Oct. 19; 1923; in Monessen; he was a son of the late Anthony and Anna Cirincione Santoro. He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community; a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Santoro was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant; where he worked as a scaleman. He had worked as a foreman for Copperweld in Glassport and currently worked at the Pasta Shoppe in Monessen. Mr. Santoro served on the Belle Vernon Borough Municipal Authority as secretary/treasurer; the Belle Vernon Planning and Zoning Board; was associated with the voting process in Fayette County; and was one of the co-founders and treasurer of the Belle Vernon traveling Black Hawks midget football league. He also was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Monessen Elks.
