George A. Trenk Sr.; 60; of Fairhope (Belle Vernon); died Thursday; July 3; 2003 in his home. He was born in Fairhope on May 4; 1943; a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Kovatch Trenk. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A 1961 graduate of Bellmar High School; Mr. Trenk was a Cub Scout and Weblos leader and an EMT for the former Community Ambulance Service from 1979 to 1984. He coached Belle Vernon Midget League Football from 1979 to 1999. In September 2001; he was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame; Class of 2001. Mr. Trenk was Protestant by faith and a member of the Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge 643 and the Charleroi Slavik Club. He retired in December 2001 after 36 years of service at the Clairton Plant of U.S. Steel. He is survived by his wife; Diane Cavanaugh Trenk; with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage on May 6; 2003; two sons and one daughter-in-law; George A. Jr. and Annette Trenk of Monongahela; and Daniel M. Trenk of Belle Vernon; three brothers and one sister-in-law; Joseph and Mary Vera Trenk; William Trenk and Charles Trenk; all of Belle Vernon; and his step father-in-law; George Smarelli of Monessen. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC.; a Golden Rule Member Firm; (724-929-5300); 700 ]Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday; July 7 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of the Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge 643 will meet in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to hold services.
