Marylou Mazza; 67; of Groton; Conn.; died Saturday; Feb. 22; 2003; in Lawrence Memorial Hospital; Groton; Conn. She was born July 30; 1935; in Arnold City; a daughter of Edith Hawk Hegedus; who survives and resides in Groton; and the late Paul Hegedus. In addition to her mother; she is survived by her husband; Louis Mazza; whom she married June 20; 1953; in Maryland; two sons; Lou Mazza of Naples; Fla.; and Paul Mazza of Groton; one daughter; Vicki Wichterman of Belle Vernon; four sisters; Carol Bridgeman of Groton; Joyce Majors of Donora; Pauline Compano of McKeesport; and Shirley Stonfer of Belle Vernon; five grandchildren; Chris; Chad; Kenny; Eric and Nicole; and one great-grandchild; Niko. A memorial service was held at the IMPELLITTERI-MALIA FUNERAL HOME; 84 Montauk Ave.; New London; Conn. Interment was held at the convenience of the family in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Christopher Shane Williams; 28; of Speers; died Saturday; July 12; 2003; at 3:30 a.m. at the home of his parents. Born Jan. 6; 1975; in North Charleroi; he was the son of Dwight and Cecilia Sadowski Williams of Belle Vernon; Washington Township. Christopher was a resident of Speers for the past year; a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; and was an insurance agent with the Williams Insurance Group of Belle Vernon. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Airborne Infantry; a graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School Class of 1993; attended Edinboro University for two years and California University for one year. Christopher also was a member of the Belle Vernon Lions Club; Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; was an assistant baseball coach at Charleroi Area High School and was active in fund-raising for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. In addition to his parents; Christopher is survived by his wife of four years; Angela Marie Fox Williams; his daughter; Emily Caitlin Williams; at home; two sisters and brothers-in-law; Lisa and David Karn of Hickory and Shannon and Daniel Rabe of Belle Vernon; his maternal grandmother; Cecelia Sadowski of Belle Vernon; his paternal grandparents; Clyde and Margaret Williams of Ocala; Fla.; and five nephews; Zachery; Riley and Henry Karn and Jake and Gavin Rabe. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; Joseph Sadowski; and one uncle; Joseph T. Sadowski. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. Thomas A. Menia; 44; of Fallowfield Township; died Thursday; July 10; 2003; at his home. He was born Sept. 21; 1958; in North Charleroi; a son of August and Doris Stark Menia of Fallowfield Township. Tom graduated from Charleroi High School with the class of 1977; retired from the U.S. Navy in 1996; and then taught classes at the San Diego College at Great Lakes Naval Base; Waukegan; Ill. He transferred from the Gurnee Post 711 in Gurnee; Ill.; to the Charleroi American Legion Post 22. In addition to his parents; Tom is survived by a son; Daniel Menia; one daughter; Monica Menia; both of Virginia; one brother; Kenneth Menia of South Carolina; three sisters; Diana Riel of Perryopolis; Carol Feiler of Pittsburgh and Virginia Boso of Belle Vernon. Dolores;the five year old daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Louis Pierallini died Wednesday evening;Oct.26;1921;after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the home on Friday afternoon;Oct.28;1921;and interment was made in the Belle Vernon cemetery. The little girl was an only child and will be sadly missed by her parents and many friends.

Alfred Hale;aged 52 years of Speers;died at the Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh Wednesday night April 2;1913;at 10 o’clock from injuries received earlier in the day at the Ella mine. It is supposed that he was riding a dilly when he was hurt. The body was brought home to Speers Thursday on the 10 o’clock train. Mr.Hale was a well know man. He had lived about Belle Vernon and Speers for the last 12 years. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.R.J.Davies of Altoona;five sons at home;the oldest of which is 16 and a baby four weeks old at home. The funeral is to take place Friday;April 4;1913 at Belle Vernon.
