Joseph Olszewski Sr.; 84; of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Aug. 26; 2003; at 4:24 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Dec. 18; 1918; in Charleroi; he was a son of the late Stanley and Constance Matuszak Olszewski. He was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and was retired from the former Pages American Chain & Cable Co.; Monessen; where he worked as a millwright. He also retired as a custodian from the Charleroi Area School District. Mr. Olszewski was a veteran of World War II; where he served in the U.S. Army; and he was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph W. Jr. and Sharon Olszewski of Las Vegas; Nev.; and Leonard C. and Cindy Olszewski of Bethel Park; one sister; Elizabeth Studnicki of Pontiac; Mich.; four grandchildren; Kelly L. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Monessen and the Italian Society of Mutual Aid of Monessen. He was an employee of American Chain and Cable Co. and the Monessen School District. Mr. DiBiaso was a baseball enthusiast; having played; coached and umpired for various leagues. He had also officiated basketball games. Romo R. Bud Nesti; 84; of Fayette Street; North Belle Vernon; died Friday; Aug. 1; 2003; in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. A son of the late Silvio and Rose Dolfi Nesti; he was born in Belle Vernon; Nov. 17; 1918. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; he was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. He was a past president; secretary; and Melvin Jones Fellow of the Belle Vernon Lions Club. He was a member and past historian of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; the VFW; where he was a past commander; the Belle Vernon Public Library Board of Directors; and the Mon Valley Refuse Authority. He was a former member of the Mon Valley Transit Authority; the North Belle Vernon Borough Council; where he served as president; the District 5 Democratic Club; where he had been chairman; and was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program for many years. He was the current community chairman for the Mon Valley United Way. He was an accomplished saxophone player and the leader of the Four Rhythm Kings and a former Townsmen. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II; he retired in 1981 after 37 years in the Irvin Works plant of U.S. Steel. Survivors include his wife; Olga F. Imperatore Nesti; with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage in April; two daughters and sons-in-law; Cynthia and George Malaga; and Pamela L. Nesti and Robert Kostella; and a granddaughter; Melissa Kostella; all of Belle Vernon; numerous nieces and nephews; and a faithful companion; his dog; Happy. Michael Mickey Mutich; 87; of Perry Avenue; Fairhope (Belle Vernon); died Friday; Aug. 1; 2003; in Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Richard and Tina Radish Mutich; he was born in Fairhope; Oct; 29; 1915. Serbian Orthodox by faith; he was a lifelong resident of Fairhope. He was a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. He had been the Washington Township Road Supervisor in the 1950s and retired from the Belle Vernon Area School District; where he was the maintenance supervisor. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II; where he was a paratrooper and received a Purple Heart for injuries received in the Battle of the Bulge. He also was awarded four bronze stars. Survivors include a son; Mike Mutich; of Fayette City; five daughters; Joanne Hastings of Pawley’s Island; S.C.; Joyce Gerace of York; Jackie Gazdik of Belle Vernon; Mickey Lynn Regula of Ft.
