She was born January 22; 1960; in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital; the daughter of Dorothy F. Smith and James T. Whittson Smith. A graduate of Charleroi High School Class of 1978; she attended Purdue University; where she received her bachelor’s (1990) and master’s (1993) degrees in science. She was employed by Purdue University in health physics and received many awards at the time of her death. She was an active member of the 2nd Baptist Church of Lafayette; where she was a devoted choir member; Sunday school teacher and an active member doing community services. She leaves behind her loving mother; Dorothy F. Smith; brother; James T. Smith Jr. (RoxAnne); of Charleroi; sister; Toni E. Smith-Othieno (Howard); of Seattle; Wash.; three of her closest loving friends; Pastor Paul Barrett Sr. and family; Wendell and Sadie Harper-Scott and Nadine Tucker; nephews; Kevin; Tyler; James III and Howard III; nieces; Akasha; Ashley and Charlotte; and a host of aunts; uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her twin sister; Denise Smith; grandparents; Robert and Jessie Smith Madison and James and Bertha Woods. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.; Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue; Monessen; where funeral services will be held Thursday; March 27; at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Joseph Carl Coccari; 89; of Monessen; died Friday; May 6; 2011; at his residence. He was born in Monessen; Oct. 31; 1921; a son of the late Rosario and Philomenna (Margieri) Coccari. Mr. Coccari was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of Gate Keeper Community Church and Turner Hall Gym. He was retired from American Chain and Cable; Pages plant; in Monessen. Joe was a loving husband; father; grandfather and great-grandfather; who enjoyed family and playing his guitar. He is survived a son; Randall Randy Coccari; of Monessen; a daughter and son-in-law; Judy and Michael Zamiska; of Algonquin; Ill.; a brother; Rudolph Coccari; five grandchildren; Kim and Michael Egidi; of Monessen; Jodi Coccari; of Monessen; Christopher Coccari and fiancee; Heidi Povlish; of West Newton; Michael Zamiska; of Wonder Lake; Ill.; and Steven Zamiske; of Glen Ellyn; Ill.; 10 great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
