Frank Bitonti; 75; of Belle Vernon; died Monday; February 25; 2008; in Jefferson Hills Manor; Jefferson Borough. Born in Belle Vernon on July 1; 1932; he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Spina Bitonti. He worked as an electrical engineer for U.S. Steel. Mr. Bitonti was a retired Colonel for the U.S. Army Reserves and a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Township. He is survived by his son; Thomas Bitonti; of Carey; N.C.; two daughters; Marie T. Smith and husband; Robert; of Mentor; Ohio; and Diana L. Hardy; of Madison; Ohio; two grandchildren; Madeline Smith and Robert Smith; and one brother and sister; Joseph Bitonti and Anna Adametz; both of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Paul and Sam Bitonti. Friends will be received Thursday; February 28; from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday; February 29; until 9:30 a.m. in the JAMES C. EUGENE ARTHUR ( CASEY ) MELVIN
Eugene Arthur ‘Casey’ Melvin; 74; of Warren; Ohio; entered peacefully into rest at his residence on Thursday; March 26; 2009. Casey was born Dec. 1; 1934; in Charleroi; a son of Thomas and Marguerite (McManus) Melvin. He moved from Belle Vernon to the Warren area in 1965. A 1954 graduate of Bellmar High School; Casey was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame in 2001. He retired from General Motors; Lordstown Division; in 1994 after 30 dedicated years of service. Casey was an avid golfer; a dedicated Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan; and he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a long-time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Warren. Casey will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 53 years; Phillis (Giuliano) Melvin; whom he married Oct. 15; 1955. His laughter and helping hands will also be missed by his daughters; Marybeth Melvin; Veronica (James) Crisan; Toni (Ronald) Nicastro and Julie (Ronald) Cavalier; all of Warren; a brother; Paul (Ann) Melvin; of Avon; Conn.; grandchildren; Casie Anne Ciancone; Vincent and Christian Cavalier; Hannah and Hilary Crisan; and Dominic and Sonni Nicastro; and his many relatives and friends. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother; Thomas Melvin. A Memorial Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Catholic Church; 420 North Street NW; Warren; Ohio; on Sunday with the Rev. Frederick E. Trucksis officiating. A service will also be held in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon on Saturday; April 4; at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
