Stanley ‘Scrubby’ Kroskie; 79; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Friday; Oct. 17; 2008; at 10:02 a.m. at TLC Adult Care Center; West Newton. Born Feb. 27; 1929; in Belle Vernon (Arnold City); he was a son of the late Walter and Della Grendolski Kroskie. Prior to his move to Rostraver Township; he had been a lifelong resident of Washington Township. Mr. Kroskie was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a retired crane operator from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport plant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict; having served with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Kroskie also was a member of the Naomi Athletic Club; the Fairhope Rod & Gun Club and the Allenport Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Roseadele and Bill Weston; of Speers; Tina and Chuck Fisher; of Charleroi; and Tonette and Carl Nicolaus; of Belle Vernon; three brothers and one sister-in-law: Edward Kroskie; of Monessen; Walter Kroskie; of Arnold City; and Joseph and Karen Kroskie; of Belle Vernon; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Elizabeth and Bernie Chorba; of Belle Vernon; and Adeline and Ronald Lupori; of Dunlevy; seven grandchildren: Robert; David and Michael Weston; Amber Johnson; Lea Fisher; Carl Nicolaus IV; and Amy Nicolaus; and seven great-grandchildren. John B. Walters; 81; formerly of Scottdale; passed away Friday; Nov. 4; 2011; in the Harmon House; Mt. Pleasant. A son of the late Elmer and Genevieve Burton Walters; he was born in Belle Vernon; on Sept. 17; 1930. Protestant by faith; he was a retired truck driver and served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include one daughter; Jenny Lynn Walters; of Scottdale; and three grandchildren; Bethany Skilone; Cameron Walters and Alicia Walters. Cecilia M. Cel Misiak Sadowski; 91; of Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; March 11; 2008; at 12:45 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born July 22; 1916; in Michigan; she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Julia Szczepaniak Misiak. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; Mrs. Sadowski was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon. She and her late husband were the former owners and operators of Sadowski’s Supermarket and Lynnwood Lanes. Mrs. Sadowski was a member of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Court 1522; serving as past Grand Regent for three terms; member of the Past Grand Regents and past District Deputy. She also was a former vice president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society; member of the St. Sebastian Church funeral choir; and the former Ladies Guild of St. Sebastian Church. Mrs. Sadowski was an avid golfer; belonging to several area golf leagues. She is survived by two daughters and sons- in-law; Cecilia and Dwight Williams and Eileen and Frank Sivek; and one daughter-in-law; Carol Sadowski; all of Belle Vernon; three sisters; Grace Rabine; of Mt. Clemens; Mich.; Aurelia Sexton; of New Haven; Mich.; and Mary Wanda Maevine Koreniewski; of Longview; Texas; eight grandchildren; Pamela Donohoe; Marsha Parise; Patti Maiale; Joe Sadowski; Bill Sadowski; Kevin Sadowski; Lisa Karn and Shannon Rabe; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph Sadowski; her son; Joseph T. Sadowski; in 1995; one grandson; Christopher Williams; in 2003; three brothers; Norbert; Arthur and Florie Misiak; and two sisters; Lucy Thomas and Rita Susick. Rose Quintier Kander; 87; of N. Belle Vernon; passed on to be with the Lord Wednesday; July 25; 2012. A daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Cicco Quintier; she was born in Belle Vernon on May 30; 1925. Rose was a graduate of the Douglas School of Business and was employed as a secretary for West Penn Power Company until her marriage in 1950. After raising her children; she worked at Giant Eagle and Hill’s Department Store where she was known as the ‘snack bar lady’. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and United Methodist Women. Rose taught Sunday School for many years; she always enjoyed being remembered by her former students. Rose served as an officer for the Tuesday Evening Civic Club; Strikettes Bowling League; and was an enthusiastic member of the Golden Agers; where she served as president and looked forward to activities at Center on the Hill. Rose was known for her smile; upbeat attitude; and her love of life. She was an inspiration not only to her family members; but to her friends and co-workers as well. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Ronald Kander and his wife; Amy of Philadelphia; one daughter; Linda Kander of Mifflinburg; PA; one brother and sister-in-law; Thomas Quintier and his wife; Lorraine; of Belle Vernon; one sister; Joanne Schuster; of Monongahela; nieces; nephew; great-nieces and great-nephew all of whom were very dear to her. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; George Kander in 1996; and her sister Patricia Quintier.
