Born Nov.15;1872 in Gaffney;S.C.;she was the daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs.Lockhart Littlejohn. Mrs.Jefferies had lived in Monessen for over 50 years and was the city’s oldest resident. Mrs.Jefferies was a member of the Mt.Zion Baptist Church;Gaffney;S.C. Survivors include two brothers;Doc Littlejohn and Hirm Littlejohn of Gaffney;four granddaughters;Dolores Burgess;Beryl Jefferies;Joan Woodson;with whom she resided;and Joyce Jackson;all of Monessen;three grandsons;Benjamin Peeler and George Robinson;both of Monessen and William Hemphill of Gaffney;a daughter-in-law;Callie Julye of Belle Vernon and a host of great-grandchildren;nieces and nephews. A former well-known Mon Valley resident;Clarence L.Jones;died Tuesday;Nov.20;1979 in the state of California;at the age of 96. Mr.Jones;who lived at 8336 Castilian Drive;Huntington Beach;Calif.;died in Pacific Hospital in Huntington Beach. He was born in Fitz Henry;Pa.on Aug.26;1883;son of the late Henry and Sarah Jones. He was a retired supervisor at the Monessen Freight Office of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad;a member of the Monessen Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge and had lived in California since 1965. He was preceded in death by his wife;Myrtle Jones;who died July 28;1965. Surviving are one son;Richard Hale Jones;with whom he made his home;two sisters;Carrie S.May and Mrs.Jess Barnes;both of Hollywood;Fla.;and two grandchildren;Susan and Richard Jones;both of California.
