Wesley James;69;of Green Hill;Pricedale;died suddenly Thursday;Feb.17;1972;at 9:05 a.m. in Pittsburgh. A retired coal miner;Mr.James had been a Valley resident since 1926. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church of Belle Vernon;serving as a trustee;treasurer of the deacons board and a member of the ushers board. He also was a member of the George Washington Carver AF&AM. Surviving are his widow;Mrs.Lois James;his mother;Mrs.Polly James;in South Carolina;one brother;Willie James;in New Jersey;and two sisters;Mrs.Mattie Lou Vance and Mrs.Leona Bryant of Philadelphia. Eugene Johnson;62;of Herminie R.D.1;died unexpectedly at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday;Nov;9;1971;in Mounsour Hospital in Jeannette. He was born Jan.2;1908;in Belle Vernon;the son of Henry and Belle Hester Minney Johnson. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include three brothers;Fred Johnson of Monessen;Howard Minnie of Belle Vernon and Walter Minnie of Dayton;Ohio. Friends will be received after 3 p.m.Friday in the Percy E.law Funeral Home;1524 Meldon Ave.;Donora;where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday;with the Rev.E.D.Ford of Quinn Chapel A.M.E.Church of Donora in charge. Mrs. Chella Jackman;80; of
8904 Fuller Ave.;Cleveland;
Ohio;died Sunday;Oct.24;1971. She was a
former resident of Speers.
Mrs. Jackman was born in
Hopwood on Jan. 14;1890.Her
husband;Park Jackman;predeceased
her.
Survivors are one son; Guy of

Gaskill of Independence; Kan.;a sister; Mrs. Maude Seiler

Bertha Marie Jones;72;of Los Angeles;Calif.;formerly of Perryopolis died Thursday;June 24;1971;in View Park Hospital;Los Angeles.  She was preceded in death by her husband;Charles;in September;1955.  Surviving are two sons;Charles of Star Junction and Allan of Monongahela;three grandchildren;four great-grandchildren;and two sisters;Mrs.Virginia Kubula of Los Angeles;Calif.and Mrs.Ruby Lachnit of Torrance;Calif.   Friends will be received at the Blair Funeral Home;Perryopolis;after 7 p.m.Saturday.  A service will be held at the funeral home Monday;June 28;at 2 p.m.with the Rev.James Ellenberger officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. John Jurenek;88;of 31 Franklin Drive;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;April 28;1971;at 6:30 p.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Born Feb.12;1883;in Czechoslovakia;the deceased was the son of the late Andrew and Susan Jurenek. Mr.Jurenek was a retired employee of the galvanizing department of the Page Division;American Chain & Cable Co.;Monessen. Surviving are a daughter;Mrs.Michael (Mary Ann) Cunko of Belle Vernon;six grandchildren. Friends are being received at the John L.Kravets Funeral Home;Monessen. A Requiem Mass will be sung Saturday morning at Holy Name R.C.Church;Monessen;with the Rev.Matthew Yanosik in charge. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Rev. Lew F. Johnston; 64;
former Greene County pastor;
died Thursday night;April 8;1971; in Columbia
Hospital in Wilkinsburg.
He had suffered a heart attack
last Sunday; while conducting a
baptismal service in the
McMasters United Methodist
Church at Turtle Creek; where
he had been the minister since
1967. Rev. Mr. Johnston; was pastor
of the Jollytown Methodist
Circuit from 1934 to 1936; the
Carmichaels Methodist Church
from 1936 to 1942; and the
Street Methodist
Waynesburg; from
Washington
Church;in
1942 to 1951.
He then served pastorates in
Donora; Kittanning; and Duquesne before being named
pastor of the Turtle Creek
Church.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Sunday in the McMasters Church with burial in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
