Peter Krivda;20;of Gillespie;was killed Tuesday morning;Aug.24;1965;in a one-car accident in Monongahela. He was dead on arrival at Monongahela hospital. He died of multiple cuts and fractures. He was a passenger in an auto driven by Leonard Vargo;18;of Fayette City;who was in guarded condition with multiple injuries. Another passanger in the Vargo machine;19-year-old Gerald Layhew of Donora;was in serious condition. Monongahela police said the fatal crash occurred in Route 88 in the southern section of the community in an area locally known as Cemetery Rd. Vargo’s machine failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a retaining wall. The vehicle was demolished. He was single and lived with his parents;Frank and Margaret Honeycheck Krivda of Gillespie. In addition to his parents;he is survived by two brothers;George and Robert;and a sister;Mary Anna;all at home;and his paternal grandmother;Mrs.Anna Krivda of Fayette City R.D.1. Prayer services for the victim will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m.in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;followed by Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m.in Holy Spirit R.C.Church;Fayette City. Rev.William Gavron will officiate. Burial will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
