Mr.Murphy;who resided at 713 Fallowfield Ave.;Charleroi;died Saturday June 9;1973;at the Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He had been ill for some time and was admitted to the hospital June 1;suffering from virus pneumonia. Mr.Murphy was named chief clerk in March of 1969;replacing F.William Kittridge. Prior to being named chief clerk;Murphy served as field assessor for the county. He also served as steward of the Veterans of Foreigh Wars post in Charleroi. Mr.Murphy was born April 9;1915;a son of the late James V.and Elizabeth Mears Murphy. He was a member of St.Jerome’s Roman Catholic Church;the Slovak Club and American Turners;all of Charleroi;and the BPOE Lodge 846 of Canonsburg. He is survived by a brother;Harry E.Murphy of Mountain City;Tenn.;and a sister;Mrs.Margaret Leichliter of Collegeville. Henry Manzola;56;of Lowber;Fayette City;R.D.1;died Saturday May 26;1973;at 3:30 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Dunbar on August 14;1916 and was a veteran of service in the U.S.Army during World War II. Mr.Manzola was a construction worker employed by the R.S.Sinclair Construction Co.;Uniontown. Joseph P.Martz;58;of 212 Center St.;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;April 11;1973;at 7:40 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Monessen on February 5;1915 and was graduated from Monessen High School with the class of 1933. He was employed in the blooming mill of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Martz was a veteran of World War II;having served in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded six battle stars and the bronze star for gallantry in action. He held the rank of Lieutenant. He had been president of Monessen Eagles Aerie 2399 for three terms and belonged to the Raven’s Club of Monessen and American Legion Post No.659 and Sons of Italy Lodge;Belle Vernon. Surviving are his widow;Dorothy Price Huber Martz;his mother;Mrs.Sophie Martz of Monessen;three sisters;Mrs.Paul (Catherine) Cherven of Charleroi;Mrs.Harry (Mary) Daugherty of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Joseph (Virginia) Rusak of Charleroi;three brothers;Stephen Martz and Paul Martz;both of Monessen;and Harry (Moe) Martz of Belle Vernon. The body of a 32-year-old Monessen man;who had been missing for two months;has been recovered from the Monongahela River in Forward Township. The Allegheny County coroner’s office identified the man as Carl Miller of 467 Clarendon Ave. Cause of death was drowning;although the exact manner of death is unknown;said a coroner’s office spokesman. Authorities said the body had been in the water for about two months. Mr.Miller;who was born July 10;1941;in New York City;lived with his mother;Mrs.Alma Miller. Walter S.Morris;64;of 1359 Ingleside Ave.;Jacksonville;Fla.;died Friday;March 23;1973;at 5:30 a.m.in Jacksonville Beaches (Fla.) Hospital. A former Mon Valley resident;he was born Oct.11;1908;in Marysville;Pa. He had resided in Jacksonville;Fla.;for the past 29 years. He was a retired materials engineer at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. Mr.Morris was a member of Avondale Methodist Church of Jacksonville;Fla.;and Christ Methodist Church of Jacksonville Beach;Fla. He was also a member of F & Am Lodge;Scottish Rite and Morocco Temple;all of Jacksonville;Fla.
