David J.Shaver;80;of Charleroi;died Saturday;April 14;2001;in Shadyside Hospital;Pittsburgh. He was born Feb.11;1921;in Nashville;Tenn.;a son of the late Edwin and Sarah Hite Graves. He was a member of the Charleroi United Methodist Church;the Oddfellows;Belle Vernon Lodge 643 F&AM;and the Charleroi and Roscoe gun clubs. He had been a softball and baseball umpire for many years. He was a former district justice in Belle Vernon;Fayette County;for 18 years. He retired in 1979 from the Allenport Plant;Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;working in central services as an electrical foreman. He had served in the U.S.Army;Second Infantry Division;during World War II. Survivors include his wife;Mary Ann Jones Shaver;three sons and two daughters-in-law;David J.Jr.and Sue Shaver of Charleroi;Jeffrey L.Shaver of the state of California;and Gregory and Nancy Barr of Charleroi;one daughter and son-in-law;Melody and Barry Carmello of Monessen;three sisters;Barbara Frazier of Elliocott City;Md.;and Jackie Hodgkiss and Betty Shannon;both of Browntown;Va.;and four grandchildren;Justin and Brandon Barr and Blake and Dalton Carmello. Carl A.Pesi;85;of 204 Long Ave.;Belle Vernon;Washington Township;died Wednesday;April 4;2001;at his residence. Born Jan.8;1916;in Argentina;he was the son of the late Carlo and Assunta Mazzei Pesi. Mr.Pesi was a resident of Washington Township for the past 64 years and was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. Mr.Pesi owned and operated Monessen Heating and Roofing for 25 years and was also employed at Beacon Supply Co.of Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II;where he served in the U.S.Army and was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Washington Township Fire Department. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law;Carl L.and Rita Pesi of Washington Township and Thomas and Mary Pesi of Star Junction;two daughters and son-in-law;Joan DeAngelis of Vanderbilt and Patricia A.and John Morigi of Washington Township;a brother;Mario Pesi of Lynnwood;a sister;Yolanda Neil of Belle Vernon;15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Ann Krofchek Pesi;on Oct.13;1992. He was also preceded in death by a brother;Ector Pesi and two sisters;Rosetta Fantini and Eva McGill. Visitations will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the LEONARD J.PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME;family owned and operated;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. A Prayer service will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m.in the funeral home followed by Funeral Mass at 9 a.m.at St.Sebastian R.C.Church. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The St.Sebastian Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Friday at 3 p.m.and the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 will hold services Friday evening in the funeral home.
