A three-year-old Monessen boy;Carl Thomas Pesi;died Saturday Aug.17;1968;of injuries received when he fell from a roof behind his home at 451 Schoonmaker Ave. According to Monessen police;the youngster apparently scaled a small fence on the back porch and walked out onto the roof of Rem’s Electric warehouse located in the rear. He toppled from the roof 30 feet to the concrete pavement. The accident happened at about 7:15 p.m. The youngster was taken to Charleroi-Monessen Hospital;where he succumbed at 10:10 p.m. Death was attributed by Westmoreland County Coroner Stephen Yoney to a fractured skull and brain damage. The youngster is the son of Carl L.and Rita Hasch Pesi. He was born in North Charleroi on May 5;1965. Surviving;besides his parents;are a brother;George at home;paternal grandparents;Mr.and Mrs.Carl L.Pesi of Fairhope;maternal grandparents;Mr.and Mrs.John Hasch of Donora;paternal great-grandparents;Mr.and Mrs.Carlo Pesi of Belle Vernon. Mrs.Martha Polen;60;of Belle Vernon R.D.3;died Saturday at 12:45 in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mrs.Polen was a substitute teacher in the Belle Vernon Area School District and formerly taught in the Smithfield;Ohio;School District. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Surviving are her husband;Frank;two daughters;Mrs.Ronald (Sue) Taylor of Belle Vernon and Mrs.David (Marianne) Ready of Levittown;a son;Richard;a senior at the University of West Virginia at Morgantown;three grandchildren;two brothers;Fred Ruppert of Toledo;Ohio;and Ted Ruppert of Spencerville;Ohio. Mrs.Pearl Phillips;71;of 1112 Summit Ave.;Monessen;died Saturday;Feb.3;1968;at 9:35 a.m.in Westmoreland County Home after a lingering illness. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of McKeesport and was a former member of Union Baptist Church;Monessen. Her husband;Robert;is deceased. Hospital.
Born in Pricedale April 6;1908;
he had lived in the Belle
Vernon area his entire life.
He was a member of the
First Baptist Church; Belle Vernon;
and was chairman of the
troop committee for Fairhope
Boy Scouts. Mr. Patterson was
active in scout work over the
past 20 years.
He was employed in the shipping
department of the Allenport
plant of Pittsburgh Steel Co.
Surviving are his widow;
Mary Shosky Patterson; two
sons; James M. of Belle Vernon
and William T. at home;
two grandchildren.
