Born in Roscoe;Mrs.Smith had been a Valley resident all her life. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church;Monessen. She was preceded in death by her husband;William R.in July;1951 and by a daughter;Lorna. Surviving are three sons;Ray;Edward and Robert;all of Monessen;two daughters;Mrs.Andrew (Jean) Dyky of Monessen and Ruth;at home;4 grandchildren and a sister;Mrs.R.V.Smock of Monessen. Lloyd H.(Bunk) Shepler;79;of Monessen;died Friday;June 2;1961;at 9:45 p.m.in the Elks National Home;Bedford;Va.;where he had been a resident the past two months. Mr. Shepler; a member of a pioneer family in the area;was born April 10;1882;on Shepler Hill;which was named after his family;in Rostraver Twp. Most of his life was spent in Monessen. He was a retired employee of U.S.Seel Corp. Mr.Shelper’s wife;Agnes McLuckie Shepler;preceded him in death in 1937. Mr.Shepler was a member of the First Methodist Church of Monessen. He was a life member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 773. He is survived by one son;Harold of Monessen and two sisters;Mrs.Elma Githens of Belle Vernon and Mrs.Ella Tomer of Monessen;three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the H.Denver Rhome Funeral Home;Monessen;where funeral services will be held Tuesday;June 6;at 2:45 p.m. The Rev.Jackson S.Gabany will officiate. James V.Simpson;53;of 934 Henry St.;Belle Vernon;died Monday morning;Feb.6;1961;at 3:45 o’clock in the Oakland Veterans Administration Hospital;Pittsburgh after a brief illness. Mr.Simpson was born in Belle Vernon;July 8;1907 and was a U.S.Army World War ll veteran. He was employed at Armstrong Brothers Hotel;Pittsburgh. Surviving are five brothers;Robert;at home;Nelson of Los Angeles;Calif.and Lawrence;Louis and Dale of Monessen;three sisters;Mrs.Raymond (Hazel) Chilton of Belle Vernon ;Mrs.Vincent (Velma) Frazier of Donora and Mrs.Jack (Betty) Dillard of Belle Vernon and many nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the late home beginning Tuesday at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Thursday;Feb.9;1961;at 11 a.m. The Rev.H.F.Coffey will officiate.
