He was employed for fifty-two years in the Fence Department of the Pittsburgh Steel Company;Monessen plant;and retired in 1954. He was a member of the Croation Club of Monessen;and was a veteran of World War One. He is survived by his wife;Mabel Vaughn;one son;Robert of Pittsburgh;a daughter;Mrs.Marian Peters of Pittsburgh;a sister;Miss Elizabeth Vaughn of Portsmouth;Ohio;and two grandsons. He was preceded in death two years ago by a brother;Lee L.Vaughn;a former burgess of North Charleroi. Rose Corrigan Wachinski; 72; of Perry Avenue; Belle Vernon; Fairhope; died at 1:35 p.m. Friday; May 10; 2002; in her home. Born Dec. 18; 1929; in Vestaburg; she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Kubicar Corrigan. Mrs. Wachinski was a resident of Fairhope for the past 44 years. She was Catholic by faith and was retired from Donora Sportswear; where she worked as a presser. She then was employed at Audrey’s Custom Draperies of Charleroi for her daughter; Deborah. She was a past Girl Scout leader in the Fairhope area; past president of the PTA at Marion Elementary School and she belonged to many card clubs in the Valley. She is survived her husband; John Wachinski; to whom she was married for 53 years; three daughters and a son-in-law; Catherine Valgora; R.N.; of Belle Vernon; Adeline and Lawrence Matty of North Charleroi and Deborah Kruell of Belle Vernon; four brothers and sisters-in-law; John and Olga Corrigan of Cleveland; Ohio; Dr. Robert and Louise Corrigan of Kane; Edward and Sue Corrigan of Florida and Daniel and Rita Corrigan of Sterling; Ill.; one sister and brother-in-law; Joyce and Ken Stuart of DuBois; three grandchildren; Richard and wife; Stephanie Valgora; both registered nurses; Debra Mavrakis; R.N.; and husband Louis; and Samuel Caputo; and one great-grandson; Richard Valgora III. Mrs. Wachinski was sister-in-law of Anthony and Sophie Wachinski of Richeyville; Joseph and Florence Wachinski of California; Pa.; and Eva Scarton of McDonald. He came to Charleroi twenty-nine years ago from Beaver Falls;and was employed as an accountant at the Allenport plant of the Pittsburgh Steel company. He was a former Burgess of North Charleroi and also served as a school director in that borough. He is survived by two sons;Lieutenant Commander William Vaughen;stationed in Japan with the United States Navy;Richard at home;Miss Betty Vaughen at home;two brothers;Kenneth E.Vaughen of Monessen and Frank Vaughen of Peoria;Illinois;one sister;Elizabeth Vaughen of Portsmouth;Ohio and three grandchildren.
