Mrs.Mazie Ostrander;wife of Park Ostrander;died in Charleroi-Monessen hospital after a brief illness at 5:30 a.m.;Thursday;April 28;1938. She was thirty eight (40). Mrs.Ostrander was born at Fairhope July 31;1898 (1897);the daughter of Jess (Jeff) and Elizabeth G.Baker. She had lived at Grandview for nine years and formerly resided in Donora. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints and the Protected Home Circle. In addition to her husband;she is survived by two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be conducted in the home at 2 p.m.Sunday by Rev.Hull of Monongahela. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Laura L.Owens;aged 71 years;died Monday afternoon;;February 28;1938;at 3 o’clock at her home;217 Second street;following a lingering illness. Stricken in May of last year;she was a hospital patient on three different occasions. One week ago yesterday (Feb.21;1938) she suffered an attack of pneumonia;and it had been known for several days that her condition was critical. Miss Owens was a life long resident of this immediate section;having been born and reared in the upper Monongahela valley. When a child of eight years;her parents took up their residence in a house located on the present site of the Pittsburgh Steel company;where she grew to womanhood. She attended country school in a building located on a spot where now stand the Iowa school. Miss Owens was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and its allied organizations;the Monessen lodge Dames of Malta and Belle Vernon W.B.A. Surviving are two sisters;Mrs.Sam Ross;of this city;and Mrs.Letitia Myers;of Belle Vernon;and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday;March 2;1938;at 2 o’clock from the late home;with Rev.Edward L.Boetticher;pastor of the Methodist Church;officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
