Earl H.Neil;76;of 609 Green St.;North Belle Vernon;entered into rest on Monday;Sept.17;2001;at 7:51 a.m.at Mon Valley Hospital. Born Aug.11;1925;in Belle Vernon;he was a son of the late Earl D.and Josephine Flora Neil. Mr.Neil was a lifelong reseident of North Belle Vernon and was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon and was past president of the Holy Name Society of the parish. Mr.Neil retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;Allenport plant;where he worked as a labor leader in the hot mill with 40 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a corporal in the U.S.Marine Corps with the First Marine division in the Pacific campaign and was awarded two Purple Hearts. Mr.Neil was a life member and former trustee of North Belle Vernon Fire Department;member and past commander of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659;life member of DAV;founder and president of the first Belle Vernon Booster Club;and a former member of the North Belle Vernon council for four years. On Sept.7;2001;Mr.Neil was inducted into the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame by the Belle Vernon Quarterback Club. He is survived by his wife;Margaret Danahy Neil;to whom he was married 54 years on July 16;2001;two sons and daughters-in-law;Jon Neil and Margaret Mascara of Belle Vernon;Brian and Debbie Neil of Port St.Lucie;Fla.;a daughter and son-in-law;Neila and Skip Horne of Fort Pierce;Fla.;five grandchildren;Brandon Neil of Belle Vernon;Ashton Neil of Belle Vernon;Royce Neil of Port St.Lucie;Fla.;Taylor Neil of Miami;Fla.;and Camden Mascara of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a son;Kevin Lee Neil on Dec.27;2000. Leona J.Kunka;79;of Monessen;went to be with the Lord;Monday;Sept.17;2001. She was born Oct.2;1921 in Bentleyville;a daughter of the late Thomas and Anne Biscoe Mendola. She was a member of First Christian Church;Monessen;where she had served as financial secretary. Surviving are her childen;Thomas G.Keller and his wife Denise of Uniontown;Bonnie Kunka of Monessen;and Tracy Price and her husband Matthew of Allison Park. Mrs.Kunka is also survived by her grandchildren;Jordan;Dylan;Stephen;Brian;Jeremiah and Joshua. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Jess W.Kunka;and two sisters;Elaine Mendola and Irene Pagano.
