Kenneth D. Von Bergen; 68; of Monessen; formerly of Warren; Ohio; on Thursday; June 12; 2003; died unexpectedly. Beloved husband of Lois A. Von Bergen; loving father of Ken; Bruce; Lori and Brian; loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother of Godfrey and Eleanor. Ken was a 1951 graduate of Monessen High School. He also served as a marine in the Korean War; where he received the Marine Corp Medal for Heroism. Mr. Von Bergen worked as a machinist for American Welding in Warren; Ohio; for 35 years. He was a member of the Croatian Club in Monessen. Ken loved to spend the winter months in St. Petersburg; Fla. Ken was beloved by his wife of 46 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Calling Hours at Robert A. Catherine E. Baron; 82; died Thursday; June 5; 2003; at Cypress Acres Convalescent Hospital; Paradise; Calif. Born Nov. 25; 1920; in Van Voorhis; Pa.; she was the daughter of the late John and Marie Klanduch Bartek. She and her husband; the late Andrew Baron; moved to California in 1974. Catherine was Protestant by faith and had always loved singing the hymns and choruses of the faith. Other interests included a life-long love of animals; embroidery; canning and selling Avon. She was a short order cook at the former JIB Restaurant in Charleroi. Surviving her is one sister; Eleanor Bartek of Seattle; Wash. Also left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Bette Baron Marino and husband Anthony of Magalia; Calif.; two granddaughters; Carrie Ank and husband Tom and Lia Kieckhafer and husband Jim; and great-grandchildren; Madeline and Abigail Ank and Alexis and Will Kieckhafer. Aunt Catherine will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews; Dolores and Michael Roskovich; Thomas and Judy Buchanan; Judy and Dennis Johnson; Allan and Corie Tylka; Terry and Pat Tylka; Nancy and James Poole; and John and Marilyn Radich and their families. In addition to her parents and beloved husband; family members who have gone on before her were her sisters; Margaret Radich; Mary Buchanan and Anna Tylka. Bertram L. Taylor; 48; of Donora; died Thursday; May 29; 2003; in Jefferson Hospital; Pleasant Hills. He was born June 30; 1954; in Pittsburgh; a son of the late Charlotte J. Bailey Taylor Ellis. He attended school in Pittsburgh. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1972 and served eight years. After his discharge from the military; he resided in Hawaii for more than 20 years. He came to Donora and resided there until the death of his mother. He leaves to mourn his death his sister; Fern Marie Taylor of Donora; one niece; Kara Lynn Taylor and children; aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends. Barbara Ann Allen Dupree; 67; formerly of Monessen; departed this life Monday; June 9; 2003; at 5:30 a.m. in Kane Regional Center; McKeesport. She was born March 7; 1936; in the former Charleroi-Monessen Hospital to the late Lynnwood and Addie Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Dupree; and one son; David Dupree. Mrs. Dupree resided in Monessen until 1975 when she moved to Pittsburgh to pursue her occupation as a registered nurse at Montefiore Hospital. She worked until she took ill and then resided in Washington; D.C. with her brother when her health brought her back to live with her daughter. Mrs. Dupree is survived by two sons; Richard Dean Allen of Phoenix; Ariz.; and Anthony Dupree of San Jose; Calif.; three daughters; Beverly Dupree of Pittsburgh; Shelley Dupree and husband Greg Norville of Duquesne; and Dawn Penny and husband Robert; three brothers; Richard Allen of California; Robert Allen and wife Jeanie of Washington; D.C.; and Phillip Tracey Allen of Monessen; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.
