He was a World War II veteran; serving in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Peffer was a member of the First United Methodist Church and VFW Post 167; both of Charleroi. She attended Shore Crest Prep School and graduated from St. Petersburg (Fla.) High School and Robert Morris Business School in Pittsburgh. She worked for 30 years in various divisions for the state of Florida. John Bailey Legros; 78; better know to everyone as JB ; died Saturday; Sept. 13; 2003 in Mon Valley Hospital; Inc. He was born Aug. 7; 1925 in Marion; Ill.; a son of the late Narcissus Frenchy and Mary Donaldson Legros. He was a graduate of Charleroi Area High School and attended Fire School at California University. Mr. Legros served as a past president of the Southwestern Fire Chiefs Association and the Fayette County Fireman’s Association and as fire chief of the Washington Township Fire Department for many years. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant and as a retired sales representative of Howe Fire Apparatus. Mr. Legros also was a member of several social clubs. Survivors include his wife; Gizel Giz Legros of Stockdale; two daughters and sons-in-law; Diane and Dennis Koneffko of Belle Vernon; and Yvonne and Bill Waller of Fayette City; two sons and one daughter-in-law; Jay and Maxine Legros of East Millsboro and John Legros of Stockdale; one sister; Sue Dolan and husband Bob of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren; Renee Baciak; Nicole Mendicino; Zach Koneffko; and Jayson; Ian; Frankie and Tyler Legros; and three great-grandchildren; Madison; Sydney and Mikey. Jack T. Beck Jr.; 84; of Rostraver Township; died Sunday; Oct. 5; 2003; in Mon Valley Hospital Inc.; Carroll Township. He was born in Monessen on June 15; 1919; a son of the late Jack Sr. and Rose Beck. He was a graduate of Monessen High School and the Massanutten Military Academy of Woodstock; Va. Mr. Beck was a member of First Christian Church in Monessen. He was a former postmaster in Monessen and served as a health officer for the state of Pennsylvania. He worked for AAA for over 50 years and served as Executive Director and Chairman of the Board for the Westmoreland Motor Club for 28 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Beck was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 28 and was appointed to and served as a member of the National Foreign Relations Commission of the American Legion. He was a former Trustee for California University of Pennsylvania for eight years. Mr. Beck was as a member of the Board of Directors of the Monessen Chamber of Commerce; the B.P.O.E. and Croatian Club; both of Monessen; and served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army. He is survived by his wife; Evelyn L.
