Morley B. Glick; 88; of Rostraver Township; died Wednesday; Oct. 29; 2013; following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 14; 1925; in Arnold City; the son of Nellie (Harris) and Sam Glick. He graduated from Marion High School in May 1943 and attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. A self-made man; Mr. Glick supported himself while still in secondary school by driving a truck for the Hillman Coal and Coke Co. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943; at the age of 17; and by 1945 had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant as a radio operator of a B-17G bomber with the 487th heavy Bomb Group of the 837th Bomb Squadron. In Dr. Regis Serenko’s book; Freedom’s Heroes; the 185 around the clock bombing missions of the military; economic and industrial systems of Germany by Glick and his crew were chronicled as part of Operation Point Blank; which greatly contributed to the defeat of Germany in World War II. On July 11; 1949; Morley married Leona Moskwa in Winchester; Va.; a marriage that would last for one month short of 64 years. His wife passed away on June 12; 2013. Mr. Glick was a charter member of the Lion’s Club of Rostraver Township in 1953 and also served one term as its president. He became a partner with Pete Bruno in the Bruno Plumbing business. Later he sold insurance for New York Life and subsequently started his own insurance agency. For the decade prior to his retirement; he served in various manager roles in the State Store system. Mr. Glick is survived by his two sons; Leonard M. Glick and wife; Cathy; of Groves; Texas; and Mark B. Glick and wife; Hitomi of Honolulu; Hawaii; and a daughter; Natalie A. Huey of Madison. Natalie’s husband; Alan; passed away in 2006. Arrangements are being handled by ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC.; Monessen. No funeral services will be held at the request of the family. A private burial service will take place at the Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Martha Mae Herspold; 91; of Perryopolis; passed away Saturday; Nov. 10; 2012. She was born June 25; 1921; in Brownstown; the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Kennedy) Natola. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Perryopolis. She was the manager of Barbara Joyce’s Restaurant in Belle Vernon for many years. Her passion was cooking. Everyone who came to her house left very full and very satisfied. She is survived by one son; Bradley Herspold; grandsons; Brad Lee Herspold; Bret Herspold; one great-grandson; Kellen Lee; and many nieces; nephews and cousins. Martha was preceded in death by her husband; Rudolph; son; Rudolph Maynard; one brother; Maynard; sisters; Edna Ciavarri; Mable Brineger; Minnie Stockman; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 Monday; 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC.; 305 Rear Independence St.; Perryopolis; and until 10 a.m. Wednesday; the hour of service; with Mr. Mike Vindivich officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery; Belle Vernon.
