Robert A. Trombino, 100, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026 in his home, with his loving wife and daughter by his side. A son of the late James and Helen Sylvester Trombino, he was born in Belle Vernon on November 7, 1925. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the Musician’s Union. Bob started playing the accordion at age six. In the 1950’s he formed his band, Bobby and the Belmonts, who played six days a week at Paydays in Monongahela. In 1960 he opened the Modern School of Music in Belle Vernon, teaching piano, organ, and drums. He and his wife Norma Jean, opened their first piano store, Trombino Piano Gallerie in Pittsburgh in 1986, which was the first of eleven Mall music stores. Over the years he received many awards, selling to Duquesne University, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Point Park College, Carnegie Mellon, IUP, and Seton Hill University, making them All Steinway Schools. For over 30 years, he was a top ten dealer for Lowrey Organs of Chicago. He sold nearly 90 pianos to the Henry Mancini Arts Academy at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. Bob served in the US Army Air Forces during WWII. He was most at peace at home, playing his Concert Grand Bosendorfer Piano and he loved spending time on his yacht, the Sabrina II. His favorite movie to watch was The Godfather. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Norma Jean Nicola Trombino, one daughter, Carol Ann Trombino of Belle Vernon, two grandchildren, Donald Gene McCarty of Belle Vernon and Brian Robert (Stacey) McCarty of Speers, one great grandson, Logan Ross McCarty of Speers, a brother-in-law, Steve Rockocy, Norma Jean’s twin sister, Nancy Lee DeSalvo, and nieces and nephews; Robin, Cherie, Jimmy, Cindy, Kimmy, Jimmy, Vincie, Rain, Jody, Tawny, Jerry, Sherri, Tammy, Dina, Bobby, Sean, Sammy, Dominique, Stevie, and Vanessa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, James N. and Nancy Trombino and Jerry Trombino, one sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Wilford James Grant, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ronald DeSalvo, Charles and Geraldine Nicola, Robert and Josephine Yarup, Rosalie Rockocy, Sam and Fanny Nicola, and Phillip and Mary Nearing and a special niece and nephew, Sabrina Dee Nicola and Stephen Yarup .
