Mary C. Malenowski, 92, formerly of Washington Twp. (Fairhope), passed away peacefully on September 28, 2023. The daughter of the late Robert H. and Lillian Momberger Gill, she was born in Elco on July 2, 1931 and was the last surviving member of her family. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon and Fairhope, Mary was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Monessen congregation. She was employed as switchboard operator at the former Bell Telephone Company in Belle Vernon for five years, then moving to Fairhope when she married her husband, Edward, to become a wife, mother and homemaker. Mary always had a passion for art and drawing, and in her youth, drew the former Vernon High School that is illustrated in the 1949 Veronian yearbook. She also took home study courses for art and illustrated design. She enjoyed coloring the adult coloring books with markers hours on end and would also draw with pencil on a sketch pad. Survivors include a daughter, Julie Patton of Elizabeth Twp. and two sons, David of North Strabane Twp., where she made her home in the last year of her life, and Michael of Fairhope, five grandsons, Jason (Jenn) Patton of Sewickley Twp., Joshua Patton of Elizabeth Twp., Justin (Jesse) Patton of Union Twp, Brandon (Amanda) Malenowski of Allison Park, and Jordan Malenowski of Monessen; and three great grandchildren Emmalynn and Easton Patton and Charlotte Malenowski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and her brother, Robert A. Gill. There will be no public visitation or funeral services.
