Catherine M. ‘Sis’ Manack Matson, 102, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Twp., passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown. Born January 26, 1921 in Van Meter, PA she was the daughter of the late Steve and Helen Arva Manack. Catherine was a graduate of Rostraver High School, class of 1939, was a member of St. Sebastian RC Church, Belle Vernon and was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters & sons in law Kathleen & John Crane of Belle Vernon, Patricia & Donald Serwinski of Farmington; daughter in law Jean Matson of Greensburg; grandchildren Johnny & Suzi Crane of Orlando, FL, Christopher & Ellen Serwinski of Franklinton, NC, Ami Serwinski of Watertown, NY, Jeffrey & So Matson of Woodbine, MD, Melissa & Mike Battisti of Flemington, NJ, Tracy McDonald of Cary, NC; great grandchildren Krystian Serwinski, Walker & Connor McDonald, Aven & Violet Crane, Landon & Eden Matson, Ava, Aubrey, Ryan Battisti; sister Margaret Weaver of Belle Vernon, brother James Manack of Perryopolis and sister in law Loretta Manack of Belle Vernon.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years James E. Matson Sr., son James E. Matson Jr., granddaughter Shelly Crane McDonald, brothers John 'Bucky' Manack, Joseph Manack; sisters Barbara Manack and Helen Zolock.
Visitation will be for the family only on Monday from 11-11:45 pm at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon 724-929-6183 followed by a prayer and interment in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
The Family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Catherine M. Matson to rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer that her oldest granddaughter had at age three.
