Obituary

Reverend W.Stanton River,89,of Beaver,died Monday morning,April 12,2004,at Asbury Heights,Mount Lebanon,Pa.,following a brief illness. Born Sept. 27,1914,in Belle Vernon,Pa.,a son of the late Daniel and Grace McFall River,he had been a resident of Beaver for the past 18 years and was a graduate of Moody Bible College,Chicago,Ill. He retired as a United Methodist Pastor after 45 years and had served as pastor at many churches,including the Freedom United Methodist Church,the Connequenseasing/Renfrew United Methodist Church,the Midland United Methodist Church and the McKeesport United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife,Opal Elliott River,in 1972,a brother,Daniel River,a sister,Bernice Santmyer,and a great-granddaughter,Kaylee Dawson. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law,Bonnie and Lloyd Dawson,Brighton Township,three grandsons,Mark Dawson,Beaver,Douglas Dawson,Darlington,and Jeffrey Dawson,Vanport,and a great-granddaughter,Alexis Dawson. Friends will be received today from 2 To 4 and 7 TO 9 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME INC.,333 Third St.,Beaver,where a service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. by the Rev.Rico J.Vespa. Private interment will take place at the Belle Vernon Cemetery,Belle Vernon,Pa. Memorial contributions may be made,if desired,to a favorite charity.
