The War Department Friday afternoon,March 2,1945,notified Mrs.Lillian Franks,of East Belle Vernon,that her husband,Pvt.William Franks,34,infantryman,was killed on February 4. He had been overseas only two weeks. Private Franks,a son of the late Sarah and Felix Franks,would have been in service one year April 23. He received his basic training at Camp Wolters,Texas. Surviving are his wife and two sons,William and Raymond;a sister,Mrs.Mary Leezure,of Monongahela,and three brothers,Felix of Belle Vernon;Albert,in Belgium,and George,who is recovering from shrapel wounds in France. A two-months old daughter died last July.
