The body of First Lt.William Dudick;26;of 406 Locust St.;Belle Vernon;will arrive at the Melenyzer Funeral Home late Friday night;June 8;1951. Lt.Dudick was killed when the plane;a C-82 flying boxcar ;that he was piloting crashed Sunday;June 3;1951 at 1:30 p.m.;near Texarkana;Tex. He died along with seven other men. The plane was on a routine training flight from Greenville;S.C. where it was assigned to a reserve air unit reactivated shortly after the outbreak of the Korean fighting. His home base was at Greenville;S.C.;where he was attached to the 57th Troop Carrier Squad;375 Troop Carrier Wing;Donaldson Air Force Base. He was a member of St.John’s Church of Charleroi. His wife of 24 days;Mrs.Agnes Kernisky Dudick survives along with his parents;John and Eva Geeza Dudick of Belle Vernon;two brothers;Metro of Fellsburg and John of Akron;and one sister;Mrs.Louise Zurenisky of Akron. Mr.Dudick graduated from North Belle Vernon High School;class of 1942;where he played baseball and football. He attended California State Teachers College while in the Air Force and also went to night school at the University of Pittsburgh. In civilian life he was employed at Corning Glass Works here as an industrial engineer. Discharged after World War II;he was a member of the Reserves and was reactivated for service in July 1950 at the onset of the Korean fighting. Friends will be received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home after 10 a.m.;June 9;1951;and Parastas Services will be held there Saturday at 8 p.m.and Sunday at 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church;June 11;at 10 a.m.;in charge of Rev.Gregory Soroka;and military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 659. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Chas.L.Melenyzer is the funeral director. The body will be escorted home by a fellow officer and is due to arrive in Pittsburgh at 9:52 p.m.The casket;which will not be opened;will be at the funeral home until time for the services.
