Obituary

Seven hours after he was accidently shot by his friend while shooting rats on a garbage dump near Arnold City,Saturday afternoon March 15,1947, 16-year-old William Russell Anderson,Fayette City,R.D.1,died in Charleroi-Monessen Hosptial of a .22 calibre bullet wound in the head. The victim's chum, Andrew Seman,15,also of Fayette City,R.D.1,who told police the rifle was discharged when he tripped as he walked behind the Anderson boy,collapsed with a nervous breakdown after summoning aid. The fatal bullet entered the older youth's head at the back,Detective W.J.Long said,emerging through the forehead.  Seman ran to the home of Ray Stephens,a mile distant,and returned in a truck with the latters son,Donald,24,and George Tierman who removed the victim to a doctor's office.  He was ordered to the hospital where he died at 10:35 p.m. Seman is a student at Marion high school where Anderson was formerly enrolled. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Edith Anderson;three brothers, Howard Jr.,and Jess H.,at home and Pvt. Charles D.,U.S.Army;one half-brother,Robert Duvuvci and one sister, Elsie Marie at home. Friends will be received at the McCrory Funeral Home.  Services will be held there Wednesday,March 19,1947,at 2 p.m.,in charge of Rev. George Guest,and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  George M. McCrory and Son are the funeral directors.
