Obituary

William R. Dawson, Sr., 79, of 128 Jean St., Belle Vernon, died Friday,Jan.6,1967,at 6:31 a.m. in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital. Mr. Dawson had lived in Belle Vernon 17 years, coming to Belle Vernon from Monessen. He was a conductor for the P. & L. E. Railroad, retiring in 1955. Mr. Dawson, who was born at New Salem Sept. 13, 1887, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon. Surviving are his widow, Margaret Monks Dawson, three sons, Gerald Lee Dawson of Detroit, Mich., Ralph B. Dawson of Rialto, Calif., William R. Dawson Jr. , staff sergeant with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, two daughters, Mrs. Orlando (Arlene) FOREMAN and Mrs. Frank (Margaret) CAMPBELL of Monessen, a step-son, James R. FURGESON of Belle Vernon, three step-daughters, Mrs. Dorothy ROACH of Willowick, Ohio, Mrs. Theodore (Eunice) HORTON of Camp Hill, Pa., Mrs. Michael (Marilyn) RUSNAK of Belle Vernon, two sisters, Mrs. George HUEY of Belle Vernon and Mrs. Myrtle STEEL of St. Petersburg, Fla., twenty-six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Jan.7 at the Shelby D. Ferguson Funeral Home, Belle Vernon. Service there Monday,Jan.91967,at 1:30 p.m. Interment,Belle Vernon Cemetery.
